I hope to see some rendition of the Venezia pizza that I loved at Primo: baby smoked shrimp, fresh spinach, Parmesan and garlic butter. I sure do miss it!
When in doubt, add more wine.

:? ....Really ? Seriously ? Personally I've found it to be some of the nastiest beer I've ever had in my mouth. Just MHO mind you.

The new Falls City? Yeah. It's on the mild side, but I'd rather have one of them than 10 Bud Lights. :P It's usually the draft beer I go to when I go to Village Anchor Pub & Roost, f'rinstance.

Me, I'd like to see a rendition of a GOOD pepperoni and cheese pizza.

Eassssssy there big fella...I only drink the REGULAR Bud and then only when I'm (a) doing yard work or (b) when I'm doing "Q". I tried the Falls City at Selena's once...firinstance...and as I said found it quite lacking. But hey, if it's "local"...go for it. :P

BTW, did I mention I'm REALLY Jones-ing for one of these coal fired pizza's. :D

I cannot be a detested leftist and a Beer "Nazi" at the same time. That's ideologically impossible. However, I can advocate for goodness and general principle, and I do. I'm funny that way. When I go to the Farmers Market and buy a local tomato, I like it to be grown locally.

Having come late to the discussion, here are scattered observations ...

As for Belgians, all five brewing companies currently brewing in the metro Louisville area make Belgian-style brews. The sky's the limit, and need not be Belgian sky.

Falls City: The current formulation is a mild English-style Pale Ale. It is owned by a local concern, but currently contract brewed in Wisconsin. It is far better than what passed for City in recent decades.

NABC's sales crew should be descending at Coal's soon, if not already. Sounds like a great idea to me.

I'll also second the rootbeer list, that's what would sway our direction of travel. Though we can find Abita at many places, while it's good, it would be nice to get something a little more unusual.

Is Sprecher Root Beer available in Kentucky? It's made by a genuine craft brewery (as opposed to non-"craft" swill monger, irrespective of semantics) in Milwaukee, and it quite good. It's been our default draft root beer for about 7 years.

Would you dedicate one of the taps to authentic draft rootbeer? Is that done?

This might help you in your root beer research.

I wouldn't. Root beer severely taints draft lines and can carry over to the other lines in the draft system. Sprecher Brewing makes a line of craft brewed sodas including full sugar and lo-cal Root Beer. We sell several Sprecher sodas including both root beers at both our locations.

I stopped by your store yesterday, but no one was there. I'd be happy to assist in your draft selection.

I am pretty sure that I have seen Sprecher Rootbeer in the cold "food" cases at Liquor Barn.

Like Dave said, if you dedicate a draft line to root beer, it must stay dedicated to root beer.

It has worked for us at the original location, although it took a while to train consumers: This root beer is hearty and real, we pour it in a glass like we would regular beer, we discourage ice, and there are no free refills. But man, it's good stuff -- even without alcohol. :D

I think this is so interesting. I don't think I have ever had a root beer on tap. Do the kids like it? Does it have a head like a regular beer? Have you heard of 1919 Root Beer? Apparently they only come in draft form.
Here is another question. Do the beer nazis like a glass or a mug?

We start construction in earnest next week. We should be at the location more frequently.

The Sprecher website doesn't list a KY distributor yet is available. The now defunct Starlight Frozen Custard had the root beer on tap. Our distributor, Cavalier Indy, may be bringing it across.
