Seriously?

If you have the cajones to come in this public forum and slam a restaurant, you need to be ready for the retort.

I'm over this negative BS. We slam servers, restaurants, cooks, babies. I'm looking for a puppy to kick.

ENOUGH!

No formal policy, Bill. Your suggestion is a good policy, but it's not a requirement.

Cant we all just get along? Bill

Yeah, I was just going to suggest that Stephen and Annemarie get a room. Presumably not the SAME room, though ...

The irony is, that had Annemarie had this same experience at a chain, rather than an indie place, everyone would have jumped on the bandwagon to trash the place.

So you really think the defense here is speaking from their imagination and not from actual personal experiences? Interesting.

Someone who was actually there defended Annemarie, and said it went down EXACTLY as she said. There were several people on here, attacking her for daring to name names on an indie place. Do I think all the positive reviews were solely speaking imagination? No, but had it been a chain, you wouldn't have seen all the positive reviews, it would have been all negative, and there certainly wouldn't have been any nastiness directed towards Annemarie, for bitching about a chain.

Actually, I've seen discussions here where people defended some chains against attacks. I recall speaking up myself in defense of Carrabba's and Buca di Beppo, among others.

I think you're losing sight, though, Michelle, that things like this would frankly be much more likely to happen in a chain, and there would be fewer positive personal experiences to draw from, because chains in general are objectively inferior. The perceived anti-chain prejudice here isn't built on magical thinking or superstition, you know. It's based on the reality of corporate oversight, distant managers, bean counters and the lure of the quarterly balance sheet.

Michelle, you are incorrect...no one bashed Anne Marie for slamming an indy place. Some folks did object to the fact that she blasted the place on a forum, rather than / prior to speaking with management. Anne Marie has subsequently contacted CQ management, per her post and will notify the forum of the outcome of this situation. With that said, I do agree that folks on this board come to the defense of indy places much more than chains. IMO, nothing wrong with that. DD

You have your right to your opinion, and I have mine, Robin. Either way you slice it, attacking someone for posting about a negative experience they had at a restaurant, indie or chain, is pretty much uncalled for. Especially when it comes to light they they followed standard procedure and DID try to alert management that there was a problem.

Stephen, take a chill pill. It was a private joke. Bill, Susanne, and I were at a gathering with a guitar and we were singing folks songs, and were into it and nothing else. Meaning, we need that chill here.

If you read the post by Heather Y., it appears that the issue WAS addressed at the time of the incident, but management was not available.

You are correct, Michelle. I don't want people being attacked here for any reason, and I hope that particular sub-thread is being extinguished even as we speak.

Did Heather get sick? She did eat part of the sandwich as well. And as with reading any public forum, every post should be taken with a grain of salt. With that being said, negative remarks on a business do take a toll and some things are best left unsaid and should only be addressed in privacy with management in my opinion.
