Re: Yum! to pay $13.5 million to name downtown arena

First, I think it looks like a teardrop camper, when heading west.

I have heard one of the reasons why we don't have concerts - besides availability of FH - the cops harassed the groups about drugs.

One of our favorite cities to go to for UL basketball - when it's a weekend game - is Milwaukee for the Marquette game. We stay downtown; walk around to the different brewpubs and great restaurants in town, then drive to Lakefront(?), then Sprechers breweries. We stop off in Racine(?) to load up on Jelly Belly rejects before we head home.

Final Fours will probably never be in a basketball facility again. They will probably continue to allow all of the upper deck seats to be sold.

I think that there is to be a bourbon bar (side court/floor patrons only) on the lower arena. Haven't heard whether Makers' or BF plan to put their name on it. I see Bill Samuels at UL games. I don't know if I have ever seen a Brown at a UL game EXCEPT for Mr. Owsley Frazier. Thank you. I'm surprised he didn't want to honor his family with the name. (BF doesn't usually like to support activities geared to under 21 year olds. We do have sons and daughters at work here today.) Gotta go.

Maybe, but I'm not so sure, at least relative to other places. If you're talking the "lot" scene at shows with bands like Phish and Widespread, there is always more "harassment" about drugs/underage drinking at downtown venues than at large, outdoor sites. For example, from my Phish show days, I saw a lot more cops and a lot more arrests at, say, shows in downtown Cincinnati than I did at shows at Deer Creek in Indy.

There have been some pretty robust lot scenes here when Widespread has played the Palace, with very little crackdown. I saw and read about some arrests are Forecastle, but the percentage was VERY small compared to what I saw going on inside on the Belvedere.

Generally speaking, this is why certain bands prefer places with large ampitheater and camping options that are close to, but outside of cities, like Deer Creek, Alpine Valley, etc.
