Anniversary + Italian

by JasonW » Thu Jun 28, 2007 11:19 pm

I would try Lentini's. My wife and I went there on our anniversary and it was a wonderful experience. This was only a few months after they had reopened. So I would believe it should be just as good or even better now.

The view from the top of Kaden Tower at sunset is almost enough to make up for the overpriced food at Ruth's Chris. It is one of the most beautiful sights in Louisville IMO, and can be very romantic on the right night with the right person.

Lilly's can be very romantic if you ask for a table away from the door/bar.

I would say Jack Fry's and Porcini are a little too crowded and loud to consider "romantic" though the food is good at both.

I typically find restuarants to be more romanitc after dark. Don't know why, but I try to make my special occasion meals later in the evening to get that ambiance.

Good luck!

3 suggestions and not by order of importance but by experience and comfort:

Melillo's - outdoors a must weather allowing or inside & ask for back corner table

Bistro New albany - definitly the patio, very nice at dusk.

Bourbon's Bistro - smaller side deck or table in the back. go early as the bar area gets busy later on

Nah...she was kidding; she's not mean spirited. Besides, "girlfriend" and "anniversary" in the same senntence probably means they've been dating for a year, etc. An anniversary can mean anything, really!

Ross, If you don't mind crossing the bridge, how about Stratto's. We have
wonderful and reasonable Italian food and what could be more romantic
than a beautiful old mansion?

Ross,

This old geezer was kidding about the Hooter's Anniversary thing.

I like Mr Shade's idea about the candles at big rock.

Candles, a little romantic rhetoric and a bit of slap and tickle.

Then off you are to Le Relais for dinner. Big Rock is less than 5 minutes from there located at Bowman field as I recall. I think it still there anyway it was last time I checked.

Have a great time no matter what you do and be careful.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help. It's still up in the air where exactly to go but I certainly appreciate the help!

Yeah we're 20 and it's our 1-year, so next year we can get some wine with our meal. There are so many places to choose, it's a bit overwhelming for someone who never gets to eat anywhere really fancy.

Just for clarification, money is really not a problem. We want formal dress, romantic and intimate, and excellent food. I was leaning toward Italian but really we just want something with a terrific atmosphere and vegetarian-friendly (fish is ok too, just no meat or poultry).

@Ellen: actually, we went to the melting pot in December as a big date, and it was fantastic. I had actually been before, so I knew what to expect, but she thought it was absolutely fabulous.
