Stephen,

Dude...you really gotta get your emotions under control...not EVERYTHING is about "you". As a matter of fact most things aren't about you...including my previous reply...So take a chill pill or something.

Just a heads up, the Blind Pig only takes reservations for groups of 6 or more. We're still planning our inaugural visit Friday, assuming the wait isn't bad.

Great concept, beautiful location, HOWEVER i thought the food was just, OK...I went with a few people recently on a late saturday night. They were sold out of half of the menu (no sandwiches) and had a choice of one desert. This was not a problem. If a local restaurant can't keep it's product in house that just means business is good. and how does one judge also based on the fact we came on the opening weekend near the end of the night?
Being that i went with a local chef, we ordered half the menu. All entrees were good but we all agreed that something just wasn't quite there. My shepherds pie (and i understand that shepherds pie is brit food and notoriously known for being bland) was extremely bland. I had to dump half my salt shaker in it to get some flavor out of it. the same with the cassoulet. I think when you have dishes with such strong starches, white beans, potatoes, the salt and/or other seasonings should be plentiful.
The salmon croquettes were delicious. my only complaint there is that we ordered the fried oysters and both dishes have the exact same aioli to dip. not that big of a deal but my mouth was already in dill overload. I believe it was dill. Will I go back? absolutely. I'm sure once the kinks have been worked out that place will rock. the service was excellent as was the decor. maybe next time it will knock my socks off. I surely hope so. cheers!!

We tried it Friday night - very impressed. I ate more pork in one sitting than I've eaten in a long, long time.

The drinks were very good. The pork rillette, oysters, and salads were excellent, and the Ivory Bacon sandwich just out of this world. We also had the puttanesca, which was good, but not great. Overall, the food was outstanding, the service attentive, and the ambiance a welcome addition. We'll be back, and often.
