The connotative Hotbytes definition of a chain is the definition I am speaking of, which I think Paul explained perfectly.

For what it's worth - the industry definition of a chain restaurant is 8 or more locations in 5 or more states.

Or even the wacky cold-war boundary between northeastern Italy and Slovenia (former Yugoslavia), where the international boundary splits villages and created a lot of Slavic-speaking Italians up around Goricia and Trieste, where road signs often point to villages bilingually.

Not to mention that state borders are entirely artificial designations, primarily arbitrarily drawn, and not really useful in my opinion save allowing the Supreme Court to decide presidential elections.

That may be so but I'm not a big Indiana guy & only cross the bridge when passing through or to watch my own city in the background for Thunder Over Louisville so I'm going to stick by my other statement. If one is going to draw lines, they must be drawn somewhere & I personally draw it at the Ohio River on the North side.

So even though there are only two of them, Toast is a chain and Tony Boombozz isn't?

And what about the Belle of Louisville? It clearly cruises in both Indiana and Kentucky state waters, so is the sole iteration of that aquatic venue a chain unto itself?

I feel as if we've strayed into the strange realm of corporate existentialism. Regardless of where we are, I feel safe saying "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kentucky any more," which technically makes us a chain.

Precisely! The oft-contested Alsace is another good example, although I think the French are finally winning it over effectively.

I don't care how it's defined. If the food is good, I'll eat it!

PF Changs
Carrabas
Jason's Deli

But, this is all relative because you're asking about personal food preference.

I like Changs and Jason's, never has a good meal at Carrabas.

from company website:
BoomBozz signs deal to expand to Indianapolis
Boombozz Famous Pizza has announced it has signed an agreement with Naptown Pizzerias, LLC Inc. to open 8 units throughout the Indianapolis market. Naptown Pizzeria expects to open its first store in late 2009.
"Our growth strategy is focused on opening more restaurants this year, a combination of corporate, joint venture and franchise locations," said Tony Palombino, Boombozz Founder and Managing Member. "The opening of the Indianapolis market is significant, as it is one of our top choices to introduce Boombozz’s award-winning menu."

Thought it was funny that I saw on the lunch menu "Skip the Boring Burgers" and now they are opening a burger joint.

I have a feeling that the Hurstborne location hasn't done great so why would a burger concept do any better? I don't think it's a great location, people tend to zoom right by there for some reason. Why not cut your losses and focus on pizza?

Brian, that corner seems to be a high traffic corner. We used to live in Indian Springs and at 5:00pm the traffic at Westport & Hurstbourne Pky was thick. By the way are you the same Brian Curl who owned the Quiznos on Westport Rd?

Yes, it's extremely high traffic. But high traffic does not always translate to high sales. Sometimes there is so much traffic people pass by trying to get home.

Is that why you had to sell Quiznos?
