See my post below, though. Mary is going to make an extra effort to look for a solution today.

That being said - and note that I don't know where you guys work, so I'm not hatin' on you - it seems awfully ... odd ... for corporate IT to run two versions behind current on something as fundamental as a browser, particularly when the version in use is a known trouble-maker.

Mary said she'll take another look today and see if she can figure out why that one browser is causing problems. If she hits a lucky break, it could be fixed for you today. If not, then no promises. But upgrading to a more current (or better, alternative) browser is still highly recommended, not only for this site but general use.

Robin, I'm having the same problem and I'm running IE8

In general I like the new look, it's easy enough on the eyes. I am running in to the same issue as others, tons of whitespace on the right side of the screen. Happens in both Firefox 3 and IE8. Haven't tried it in chrome since I've only got it installed on the home system.

Okay, Josh, that's a different matter. As a style decision, the max width of the forum is locked at 1084 (approx) pixels. We really don't want it to go wider than that. Most people with very high-resolution screen settings view Websites in windows anyway rather than full-screen, don't they? I don't know about you, but my peripheral vision doesn't wrap around far enough to make full-screen useful, except for movies. :D

The IE6 problem, however, is a conflict with a bug in IE6 that makes the message column VERY narrow. We are committed to trying to fix that, although if Mary can't track it down easily, it may have to drop onto a "when we get to it" list.

Why not make the width a percentage rather than set pixels? Then each user determines how wide to make the browser, right? It really makes the actual viewing screen look teeny tiny to me. *shrugs* Just IMO though so take it for what it's worth.

I'll pass all this along to Mary - the IE8 issue, too, although it really surprises me that they would slip backwards.

Tina, interesting idea about percentage, but I think what they want to do is keep the banner across the top squared off with the one down the right-hand side for esthetic effect.

Still, I'll pass all this along to Mary, and she'll certainly look at it.

Robin,
Have you noticed that the time didn't change? The time on the forum is 1 hour ahead of the real time? :o Just thought I would ask!
Thanks,
Karen

Could this be an Internet Explorer issue also?

My time is an hour advanced, too, and I checked my control panel to make sure I'm flagged for the Eastern Standard time zone. Using IE at the moment, I'll switch to see if there's a correction...

Just upgraded computer at work to Explorer 8 and the forum looks so much better. It has to be a problem with the old Explorer versions. The forum looks great now!

I'm having a problem with getting automatically logged off...after something like 3 or 4 minutes. Might just be robin's way of telling me something :(
