As the guy who created and maintains
http://www.menusoflouisville.com, I thought I should maybe enter into this chat session.
1. I thouroughly a agree that it's relatively cheap and easy to create a website. Mine was started for free when Microsoft was offering free domain registrations for those starting
http://www.officelive.com accounts. Now it's $14.95 yr (
http://smallbusiness.officelive.com/en-us/) for your domain (.com name) registration and the ability to compose the website online.
2. Although I'll post a menu online for someone (i.e. Al Watan) for the most part, I just supply links to the resturant sites, letting them worry about the content. If a restaurant owner wants a site and is too busy to get one up, I'm willing to use the tools from #1 above and get them started and even show them how to use the online tools themselves.
(Successfull Resturant owners are the hardest working, most dedicated and time constrained people I know. So it's understandable why so many fail to get even a simple web site posted).
3. Keeping a website current can be difficult... and I'm guilty. I just cleaned-up A- D of my site (adding AJ's Gyros in the process) and should finish the rest this weekend.
Any additions, deletions , dead or misdirected link notifications are welcome.
