I consider this case closed and handled. There WAS an apology, people seem to want more because they have been slighted; still it won't make them satisfied. Would you like for him to fire everyone that treated them poorly that nite? Or, how about the next 10 meals free? Or.....really...what DO you all want for an apology? I would really like to know from people that do not believe this case has been settled.

Well, and let's remember - Tony did offer to talk to Brad personally about it, so I'm assuming that's also going on.

I consider it handled, too, unless we hear otherwise from Brad.

Sorry, I apologize for upsetting everyone. It was early when I was posting and the coffee hadn't set in yet. I have met Tony, many years ago when I was in the insurance business and I think he is a very nice person. Bombozz pizza is our favorite! Sorry again.

No worries, Carolyne! I don't think you upset anyone. I thought the thread in general was going on a bit after Tony and Brad had already sorted things out, and I also thought it didn't seem fair to ask Tony to throw an employee under the bus in public. But I really wasn't singling out anyone in particular, just preaching a sermon to the entire choir. :)

Not to stir the pot, but what the hey, that is my profession... Its post like this that make me happy I can be a part of a foodie community. I'm glad that Brad shared this experience with us because I know how upset I would have been if this happened at McDonalds, let alone one of my favorite restaurants at which I'm a faithful customer in these very, very trying times.

Second, there are ZERO excuses anyone could give me for the mistaken identity issue. I'm glad its clarified, but that is, in my opinion, a very serious breach of an employee to act like the owner without clarifying the point. I don't care how busy you are.

Finally (and I very much expect a lot of sh** for this comment) this is sort of the downside to have vendors, owners, and restaurant affiliated people on here that advertise for the restaurant, etc. I appreciate the active, unbiased contribution that many of them give, but it often makes it personal. If some of them weren't on here in the first place looking for every opportunity to tout their restaurant, maybe Brad wouldn't feel so attacked. AND THIS IN NO WAY IS POINTED AT TONY. ITS JUST A POINT I OFTEN THINK OF BEFORE I LEAVE ANY NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ABOUT ANY RESTAURANT. I don't want to piss off someone's neighbors, uncle's, brother's cousin's babysitter.

Also, I love introducing myself as a member off hotbytes. Why wouldn't you?? That's all I'm saying.

Jess, don't worry, we won't jump all over you. The point you raise is legitimate. Bottom line, however, is that after giving this a lot of thought over the years, I decided that it's better in the long run to have active participation by industry people and "civilians" interacting here together as a community of peers.

I'm always sorry when feelings are hurt, but as long as we stay civil, I think we can walk through just about any dispute and come out with some reconcilion on the far side. And that's a good thing.

I recognize that - as in any social setting - things can get a little skittish sometimes. But I do think this forum remains the best place around to talk about food and drink BECAUSE of its diversity.

That's why I live this forum and continue to visit and post. I am glad this situation was resolved and I think it reflects life in general. I think 99% of us are in the service industry to some extent (maybe not the restaurant industry but some service industry). In our daily lives we (or our subordinates) make mistakes. Sometimes these mistakes upset clients. We do what we can to fix those mistakes and prevent them from happening in the future. If the client still is not happy, we end up losing the client and moving on. In any case, we are all trying our best to succeed and as long as feedback is civil and constructive, things will work out the way they should.

I've been holding off posting again since this has continued to grow, but just to sum up:

1. We were treated badly.

2. It was mistaken identity. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Barry intended to convey himself as Tony, and I don't know the answer to that one way or the other. Maybe he was, or maybe he just didn't hear me correctly. Either way, the way he handled the situation was poor, but we can't all be on our game all the time.

3. From my perspective, I consider Tony's explanation and apology adequate and sufficient. No more hard feelings on my end, and I have shared his explanation and apology with all my family that was present that night. All seemed satisfied. Further, I didn't expect Tony to say negative things about his employee. He apologized for the situation and how it was handled, and that's enough for me.

4. I have been unbelievably busy, and have not had a chance to call or email Tony, like he invited me to do. I plan to do that in the near future, and anticipate that his offer of a dinner, gratis, will make up for Friday.

5. Re: introducing myself as "Brad from Hotbytes" was neither: A. An attempt at special treatment--from my perspective, we requested reservations, Boombozz accepted, they should have been honored, Hotbytes notwithstanding; or, B. An attempt to portray myself as employed by, etc., Hotbytes. I contribute here as a hobby and as a passion, nothing more, nothing less. Marsha (I think) summed it up--I introduced myself that way BECAUSE Tony and I have interacted here. That's all. I have introduced myself that way to others, such as Anderson as Asiatique, simply because that's the way we might know each other BEFORE we meet in person. If I bumped into Phil and Donna roaming the Highlands or Marsha at Lou Lou or Nimbus at Ray's Monkey House (who has, to my knowledge, NEVER been working when I've been in there, heh. . .), I would introduce myself the same.

Bottom line--we're fine, and this is put to bed from my perspective. Thanks again to Tony for apologizing and reaching out to make amends. That puts Boombozz back in my good graces, for whatever it's worth.

I just assumed you were responding in the French imperative.

Went in tonight for late dinner after Shakespeare in the Park, could not of been more pleased with service and food. Was promptly greeted by Matthew whom took our beer order and then ordered the Tony Supremo which was delicious and served piping hot. He was very attentive but not overwhelming at our table ( just right ).
I really like the layout of the building with it being open and also the televisions are placed for perfect viewing throughout the restaurant.
Very nice addition to the Highlands, will be frequenting often :D

A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.
