I totally understand the market need to have something like Miller Lite as as option at an event like this, when it is the only option, we all lose. In my case, they did not make a dime off of me, as I simply won't drink Miller Lite (or any other mass-marketed pale lager). That is just my tastes. Not offering anything else at all, whether it was local or otherwise is just short sighted.

Make it a Browning's Helles; accessible to beer geeks and rookies alike.

At a completely different event over the weekend, we found completely different results. We went to the St. Mary's street dance on Saturday night. While the food offerings were the typical county fair fare, the beer selection was really good. For the regular domestic drinkers, they had Miller Lite and Coors Light, as well as Smirnoff Ice coolers in 5 different flavors, and a slushy machine making cocktails out of Mike's Hard Lemonade. For local brews, Brownings, New Albanian, Cumberland, and BBC (Clay & Main) were all represented. Browning's Maibock, New Albanian Tunnel Vision (great batch, by the way) and 15-B Porter, Cumberland Cream Ale and Snackerhefeweizen (try ordering that one later in the evening!) and BBC Amber and Pale Ale were all available. Something for everyone. I hope that other events in the area see how well this went over and try and emulate it.
