Just a data point: the forum has always loaded quickly for me. (insight broadband, which I pay for at my coffeeshop, and leach off my next door neighbor at home - with permission from him).

(I'm a socialist, and wish the city would just give EVERYONE access to broadband internet. I mean how much would it cost? Probably the people who pay now would pay ten times less (through taxes), and everyone would have internet. The only people out would be the big media companies. Ooops. Who.... kinda...run the country....hhhaahaaa...Good luck on this one)

p.s. Google is trying to do this......but the multi-national mega corps are of course resisting to the max...

Robin,

Another data point for Mary that I didn't see mentioned: I can no longer highlight text ( eg. to bold it or quote it). Cursor won't highlght more than one character. Just wanted to let her know.

My page loads have been no different from usual.

That's very strange, Deb. I can't replicate it here, and again, nothing that's being done should have an effect like that. What browser are you using? Does the effect persist if you turn the computer off and turn it back on again?

TEST

I am having that issue here as well in FireFox 3.0.7 -- I'm guessing it is tied to the Java update I just did. I hard coded the bold attribute above, the button wasn't working for me.

It's been like that since the change-over. Doing the functions exactly as I used them before ( and you know I post alot ). My laptop has IE 6.0. I'll check the effect of a shut-down tonight and report on it tomorrow.

Everything seems to work fine on an iPhone and iMac. I'm liking the Apple world lately.

Re-booted last nught and restart this mornung. Still can't highlight more than one character and if I'm not careful, it drags that character to a new location. ( never saw it do drags before)

Carolyne Davis wrote:Hey robin, as long as you guys are changing things; how about when one clicks on a link that has been supplied, it opens a new browser, rather than using the same one. I invariably forget and click x to close out and end up totally off the net. Just a thought.

You can easily do this yourself by right clicking on the link as selecting opened in a new window (or new tab) that way everyone can open the links how they want to. Hope this is a helpful tip.

It's working fine for me this morning, although it wasn't yesterday. I'm using IE7 for a point of reference.
