Tomorrow's high of 43 well be most welcome. 52 on Sunday will bring the flash flooding  .

I take that back. No need to tempt the weather gods.

Looks like the weekend will give the crews time to get much work done before some questionable weather comes in early next week. I've been impressed with the number of crews I've seen on the roads. Although the damage is widespread throughout the state and beyond, it's absolutely nowhere near as expansive as following Ike. Thus, more help has arrived from surrounding states as a result of mutual aid agreements. The overall response - including UofL's decision to cancel classes for the week(not the decision following Ike) - has been on target and timely.

We're supposed to be getting 15-20 mph winds today. Just when we didn't think it could possibly get any worse. How much more are we supposed to take?

Walked out into blinding sun and warmth late morning. And calm. So, keeping my fingers crossed that we'll soon be through this without mishap.

We lost our power last night about 9:30 p.m. It's cold. We put pots of water on the gas stovetop and that does help some. Unfortunately the vent free gas logs have an electric ignition. Oh well. Running them is the equivalent of burning dollars. The cats won't let us hold them all the time, but they were plenty cuddly last night.

Can't you skip the ignition and use a match? That works for our gas range top.

Yea! Power is back on at Chez Bernert-Meadows! Keeping fingers crossed, we are now waiting for the house to warm up. Considering we could see our breath in the living room after the sun went down, this could take a while. So after we dropped son off at his job, we made one last jaunt to our friendly, neighborhood Starbucks, land of warmth and electricity for the last 5 days. I can officially say I have had every kind of tea they sell. We are celebrating with a brownie and pumpkin bread. A lot of Old Louisville and Germantown is still out, the Goss Ave Kroger is still running on generator power. We saw several power co. crews working, so here’s hoping everyone gets back up soon.

We hope you all are warm tonight - I know I will try not to take the luxury of heat on demand for granted again.

Lost our power again at 6:00 this morning in Bridgepointe (Prospect). At least today it won't be so cold, and maybe the sun will help keep the house from being super cold - at least until tomorrow. We had power for about 36 hours - now so thankful for my generous friend who loaned us her generator (hope she doesn't need it back! Then I'll be really depressed. Aaaargh!

Day 5 without power and still at my very gracious in-laws....The club has also been closed as well so I have been living life like "normal" people do..Going to movies..going out to eat...I was shocked at the trafffic on Hurstborne at 7:00pm last night because I have never seen what Saturday night traffic looks like. I thought that there was a wreck or another signal had lost power but Colleen said that it's always like that..I actually got to eat out when the rest of the world does. However, I 'm getting extremely bored and am ready to get back to work. It's very different having all this time off when you're used to working 60+ hours a week.

I don't want to give anyone false hope; however, I just saw 8 of the big electrical trucks exit to St. Catherine St. of 65 south into Old Louisville.

W00T!

I really wish there was something to do for these guys who are putting in 16 hour days to show appreciation for the work they are doing.

I went out a got the guys around here a big sack of fast food burgers. They were pretty happy as theres not many places out here to get a bite to eat right now.

i need help from someone urgently.
since last tuesday afternoon, ive only had power for a few hours off and on, and that was friday. i live at the bottom of a hill in a kind of cul-de-sac. my neighbors and i are all in the same boat. a few of us are going out with shovels and pickaxes this afternoon to de-ice the roads. we havent seen any city workers since friday.
sheets of ice have been falling off of roofs and taking down power lines that were just put back in working order the other day.
i have no phone service and this is the last of the battery power on my laptop, and i really need someone to please let christina at mojito know that im ok.
not happy, but ok.

I just called Mojito (425-0959) to ask for Christina and relay your message. At 12:28 Sunday Feb 1 no one answered the phone. Their website says they open at noon on Sunday - are they without power?? Does anyone know another way to relay Matt F's message to Christina at Mojito??

We did figure out how to light the gas logs in the fireplace and the entire house is quite toasty. I've kept pots of water simmering on the kitchen stovetop also and that has really helped. Thanks to the poster who suggested that!

We saw lots of ulitity trucks in our neighborhood, so we're hopeful!

Hope the Matt and the Mojito issue has been resolved.

Gary and I drove into Louisville last night and everywhere we went, convoys of utility trucks. Really impressive. And staging areas all over with trucks lined up. I think Louisville's doing the best it can in what was clearly extremely unusual circumstances. People seem to be bustin' their butts to work through this thing.

And today! Yay! We're pretty much de-iced up here. Our beautiful river birch we planted a few years ago finally stood up straight today and is whole and lovely as usual. It seems a little ridiculous to single out that one tree. We live practically in the forest as it is, but we love that tree.

Going into day number six without power in the 05 zip code. It's strange how the power outage is on our street - our house starts the outage with everyone out down towards Dundee. However, the houses across the street how power and all the houses from our house on towards Bardstown Road have power. We haven't seen a utility truck within 5 blocks of our house. Today was the first time - one lone truck 5 blocks away. We were hoping for power tonight but that's not going to happen. Stayed outside for most of today for the warmth - outside temp in 50's; inside temp 44 (that's up from 40 earlier this morning).
