I live in Clarksville and lost power early in the morning. The power was restored, but the neighbor's tree kept dropping huge limbs onto my driveway, taking down a light poll power line with it. I spent most of the night waking up to the sound of crashing trees. I had an outpatient procedure scheduled at the hospital, but had to cancel. We're one of three houses with the line down across our driveways. Everyone else can get out,and since so many people are without power, we may be stuck a couple of days with a live wire laying in the driveway. Sounds goofy, but at least we do have power.

We still have power on Frankfort between Vernon and Bellaire, but I just heard the second popping sound of a transformer so who knows how long it will last. I've got my eyes on the large trees between my place and Osaka. I'm just waiting for one of the bigger limbs to fall after seeing one of the small ones on the sidewalk this morning when I actually ventured out to work at 7:50. I caught the #31 bus (after it got stopped by the malfucntioning train gates on Frankfort) and arrived downtown at 8:22 (4th and Ali). I was the only one there out of an office of 50 and after clearing it with the managing partner who showed up at 9:15, I left in blizzard conditions for the Tarc ride home. [I really want to give those drivers two thumbs up for their good work in awful conditions. I don't think Tarc drivers get enough credit for their service. :) ] My ride back down Frankfort showed the traffic lights out between Pope and Bellaire, but we've been lucky.

A fire engine just went by.

Hope you are all safe!
When in doubt, add more wine.

Carly Rae's has the bar and lounge open and serving a bar menu. TV's, fireplace, wireless internet, food, beer. Everything one could hope for.

My truck has a big dent in the hood from a fallen branch.

We still had some limbs fall this afternoon. I came up 42 from Zorn around 3:30 and it was a mess but I-65 and 71 were just wet.

Frankfort Avenue report 6:31 pm:
Sol Aztecas is open and doing a pretty good business.
Quest Outdoors is open.
Everything else we saw was closed: El Mundo, Irish Rover, Ray Parrella's, Grape Leaf.
There was a bad sound across the street from Sol Aztecas when we left; it may have just been a streetlight getting ready to go out, but it was a loud buzzing noise.

Belated thanks to Todd for posting about NABC ... I thought I hit "submit," but apparently had a fingertip malfunction.

Lou Lou Two was open last night and airing the Duke-Wake Forest game. Some issue with the Dish prevented getting the Louisville game.

That coconut cake was to die for! (Is there a little white chocolate in the icing? Sour cream in the cake?)

I live in downtown and we decided to walk down to Fourth Street Live just to see what was open. It looked like Red Star was open, but we decided to try out RiRa, the new Irish place. Yes, it is a chain, a small chain, but I had met a number of the employees getting the place open as they were renting apartments where I work and I have been curious. It is a beautiful place, very inviting. All of the decor is imported from Ireland. A good deal of the employees are imported from Ireland as well! The food was wonderful! Didn't even THINK of asking for S&P! We split a bowl of potato leek soup (very smooth and creamy) that was served with a couple slices of Irish soda bread. Then, I had the beef and Guiness stew, rich and delicious with nice sized pieces of beef, carrots and onion with a mound of mashed potatoes in the middle of the bowl. My other half had the lamb stew and it was awesome! Nicely seasoned, very tasty, lots of meat, carrots and potatoes. Again, both were served with that delicious bread! All of it just perfect for a night like last night! They were working on a limited menu and short staff, but did a great job! Total bill, not counting the Smithwick's ales and Jameson's was $30 for the food (someone picked up our bar tab - nice!) Loved it!

No power at the club...I bought out two Kroger's worth of dry ice and the walk-in coolers and frezzers have been holding temperature just fine..Unfortunatly, I'll have to pitch alot of stuff due to age when the power comes back up...On the home front, my neighborhood Forest Hills in J-town looks like Bastonge..Trees are down everywhere and it looks much worse now than after the windstorm. I'm not too optimistic about when the power will come back. It was 4 days after the windstorm and I expect the same this time around. It's a balmy 50 degrees in my house.....
