Fatburger is another great burger chain. And they're open 24-hours.

I would like to see House of Blues and their Sunday Gospel Brunch come to town. Like they say, "Praise the Lord and pass the biscuits."
In n Out IMO is highly overated. Fries are "fresh" but are soggy the minute they hit the car window. Bummer. A place like Barneys would do nicely here....Bad-ass gourmet burgers with a Berkeley attitude!!

Steve, although you do not share some of Roberts thinking on food, I believe that the above is pretty much a personal attack on him. I do understand that not everyone here thinks that steaks should be well done, etc, I think you are very close to a personal insult to him.

I do not believe that is a good thing.

How about Le Peep, we had one back about 5 years ago out on Blankenbaker but sadly it closed due to poor management. They were a great place for breakfast, good food and coffee as well as a quiet atmosphere.

Also a Nathan's Famous that's not a movie theater would be great.

I also second the motion on a true "Diner" everyplace else I've lived had a couple of really good ones. One that comes to mind is Stax Omega in Greenville South Carolina. Open 24 hours a day with a large menu and breakfast served around the clock.

That Le Peep was just awful! If the chain is good, you sure couldn't prove it by that one. I'm afraid they've poisoned the brand name here for years.

I didn't care for Le Peep, but its successor, Bright Day Cafe, was good. My sister worked there during the summer, so I went there often.

She also worked at Limestone several summers, btw, and you can't say too many times how delicious the lunch is there!

The Le Peep is wonderful! We've visited many and overall they're all good, I do agree however that the one here was not as good of most in the chain. I thought it was probably because it was going downhill, it closed soon after we moved here.

Don't badmouth an entire chain for what one franchiser does with his store. Overall they're very good and offer good quality for a reasonable price.

Hiram's and Callahan's

by John NA » Wed Apr 25, 2007 10:54 pm

I'd import Hiram's or Callahan's. Either one, or both. If you're from northeastern New Jersey these two Fort Lee dives serve the worlds best hot dogs. They deep fry the hot dogs and have a distinctive 'snap' when you bite into them. You're probably thinking that I'm crazy talking about deep fried hot dogs, but these are amazing. A little good mustard and kraut and you're on your way.

Give us a real diner ,Please!!!!!

by Dan Thomas » Thu Apr 26, 2007 12:49 am

Oh yes, the diner, a true, greasy, open 24/7 place that serves up breakfast anytime and does it good, cheap, and tasty. I'm a huge fan of this unique American dining experience, and seek them out in my travels...The closest thing we have here is the Twig and Leaf.
Image
Several favorites come to mind. For example, In Phoenix, The Five and Diner on 16th St. served up a great chorizo and egg omelet as well as the great Full Moon Burger(Blackened with Blue Cheese and bacon)
Image

and the Salem Diner in Mass where you can get a fresh clam basket with your eggs if you please.
.Image
But if I were to bring a diner here to the Louisville area, location is key. If I ever won the Power-ball this is my secret fantasy! I would buy the Carman Industries property next to the 2nd St. Bridge(on the other side of Rocky's in Jeffersonville) and put up a real, stainless, shiney, neon sign emblazoned diner. And have a hybrid diner/fine dining destination that features great food and atmosphere(ala, Fog City Diner out of San Fransisco) with the best view of the Ohio and Louisville's skyline and call it the Falls Point Diner...Any investors out there that want to help me pay 12 million for 3.5 acres? I'm pretty sure that's what the last assssment of that land came up to.

I almost forgot that little gem in downtown New Albany across from the Bistro...Little Chef
Image
I have fond memories of getting a burger there after shopping for school clothes at the Fair Store and at The White House when I was a wee lad. This place is a true diner in every sense of the word, but it is very small

(a Valentine Model with 11 stools) and truth be told, I haven't been there since I was that little kid getting back to school clothes. Dave C., How are things across the street? Is it worth the effort?

Are they still around?? I haven't been to one in 10+ years. My brother lives down there and when I remember to ask, he doesn't know if any are still open. We actually had their rehearsal dinner there in '96 (I'm feeling old now). I ****LOVE**** their chocolate cream pie .. it was the best I have ever had!! :D :D

If you know of one still open, please tell me the location. Better yet, if there is a web site, I look them up that way.
