Steve,

Has anyone talked to the FEAT folks about the event yet? I'm assuming that since Will's so active with them that this is already taken care of, but if this event is using their name, they need to approve and probably need to run it by their Board of Directors. Charities have justifiably become very sensitive to the use of their name for fund-raising, given some of the scams out there.

One last thought Steve: Calling the event the Annual HotBytes Throwdown allows you to specify any "hot" item you want for the throw down. The Annual Louisville HotBytes Throwdown: 2009 Shrimp and Grits! benefiting "X" keeps it moving in a creative world. CD

Except we do throwdowns often, not just once a year!

How about ...

I have indeed spoken with them and they are very pleased. to find out more about them here is their web site. http://www.featoflouisville.org
We still need a venue. Something alcohol friendly would be great to we can sell drinks and donate some proceeds to FEAT. Any Ideas would be great.

If Denny Crum is unable to judge, I could check with Paul Hornung to see if he might be available, if Will and Steve and Robin thought that would be a good idea.

The 26th is a duty day for me so I will withdraw. I hope the event is a great one as FEAT is a very worthy cause.

Is 30 days enough to pull this off?

I know that the BBC on 4th street has hosted a Chili Cookoff for the past couple of years for a group of people from Louisville Mojo. Not sure if that venue would work or not. I've only been there once and it was some time ago.

Edit - I had the location wrong -- The BBC Tap Room & Brewery, Clay & E. Main St.'s has hosted the Mojo Chili cook off for the last three years

I have to teach a class that day, so I won't be able to participate, either. I guess I missed the part of the thread where we decided on the date? *scratches head*

Steve and I are trying to get this mother off the ground and that date was pitched around. It is not set in stone yet but we do need it to be a Monday and no sooner than that. Shoot out some dates and lets see how it works out. We certainly want to try and accommodate everybody that wants to participate.

Will if you all are still looking for a venue to host, CQ has the space and also banquet accessories (ex.tables, linen, large kitchen )if you are familiar with the lodge we can accomadate. I know that you all are looking at a central location, but if we can help just holler.Regardless we look forward to participating.

I'm with you Will on no sooner but it scares me to get too far into February because of Valentine's Day and Lent. I wish we all could be able to be there but I feel like we have a narrow window to work with. February the 2nd would give us a little more time to promote it but we really need to nail this down so our judges can work it into their calenders. Let's make this decision today.

Good point. On separate note, educate me. Were previous throwdowns in highly trafficked public spaces benefiting charities? CD
