I assume by that, that you also have problems with Kroger, Miers, Walmart Neighborhood Store, etc.?

Costco is dangerous for me as I tend to spend way too much on each visit.

And I visit at least once a week.
Buy seafood on weekends since they typically put fresh seafood out then (Great tuna and salmon for sushi making !!)
Prime grade tenderloin and strips are incredible, but buy the whole vac pack and cut your own steaks.
Ribbed pork loin is really good, but typically only out during holidays.
Their bagged salad varieties are great. (Spinach salad or Kale salad especially)
Great clothing deals especially for little ones.
Their liquor store has a nice wine selection and the Kirkland vodka and tequila is actually pretty good stuff.

Gas is cheap! Propane for gas grills is really cheap.

The only thing that sucks is the place gets packed especially on weekends. Go Early.

Sorry to disappoint you but I don't shop at any of those places. And Meirs? Really? Do people still shop there?

Is your problem with them selling Prime meats or underwear? Do you really believe that a store can't do several things well? Their house brand liquors are comparable (and often better) than the name brands they are emulating. The meat is spectacular, and a great bargain! They have an excellent bakery! Their produce is superior in both price and quality to almost every other supplier in town (bar one...sometimes) Their customer service is amazing. They pay their employees very well. They keep their prices down and quality up. I'm a big fan....

We are fortunate that Costco is less than 3 miles from our home. Savings on gas alone pay for the membership fee (and we get the credit card version with additional rebates). Anything electronic, the concierge service is wonderful. Free.
Before we buy anything, we compare with Costco and usually buy it there anyway because of liberal return policy.
Most of my casual clothes I buy there. I wear mostly casual clothes anyway, so you might see me a Costco wardrobe including shoes and purse. Winter time, a coat :-)
They have pizzas in their deli case that are good and even better, for to go, already prepared, call ahead at the food court, and they'll have your $9.95 pizza ready for you. Yes, limited selection, cheese, pepperoni, combo, pepperoni/sausage, but for tailgating, parties, etc. they are really good.
Yes, some perishable foods are too much for the two of us. The big bag of avocados, tomatoes, etc. Also, not all of their frozen food items taste that good. Glad they sample so much because we would be wasting our money on them. Only disappointment. And the sampling. My goodness. You can have quite a meal if you 'hit' them at the right time.
Also, their mocha freeze at the food court. $1.48 plus tax.
Ordered our blinds for our house through them (Louisville Blinds did the work).
Again, before you buy ANYTHING, walk through Costco. Pharmacy. Prescriptions. Alcohol. Tires. Car buying program. Travel.
No, I don't work there :-)

Ellen, I don't work there either, but did you know you can return anything you buy from them, including food for any reason? If you don't like it, you "could" return it. (just like Trader Joe's) It's something I would very seldom do, but I appreciate the fact that I can.

We will just as soon as the Bardstown location is open. The current location is to far from Fern Creek.

I rode by there Wednesday and they already have the shell of the building up. I can get from Fern Creek to the existing Costco in 15-20 minutes, though. It's typically part of our Saturday loop to Costco, Trader Joe's and Fresh Thyme.

I'm pretty excited that I can get to the new Costco in less than 5 minutes if I don't hit the Bardstown red lights of doom. On the other hand, I think that's true of just about everyone else who lives around here, too, meaning I may never get inside. :D
