Re: Fontleroy's: The buzz builds

Yeah, that was so easy it only took 3 posts to figure it out. Just kidding. But really. I usually go by word of mouth first in checking out a new restaurant. And then I look at social media regarding the restaurant in question. Third, I go to their Facebook book page to see how involved they are in the daily management of the Facebook page. And last, I go to the website. Only because the website is designed to put the very best face on an establishment. There will be no critical review, or anything to let me know if the place is good or not. It is advertising, pure and simple. I do agree, that many websites are mismanaged, out of date, etc.. so why bother. Our website is 8 years old, with out of date prices, hours, etc... we lost control of the back door, the company changed hands, and to tell you the truth, very few people use it or care!! It might be floating in cyberspace for the rest of time...I don't care, and the lines out the door don't care. Obviously, from this post alone, I realize many folks take websites very seriously, but it just has had no effect on us. Our Facebook page is so easy to navigate, we post everyday, and we can respond to questions and requests from our customers. I'm telling you, it is much easier to use, and with a few dollars a day we can boost our audience to any number we want. It is the perfect business tool for a busy restaurant owner. That is why we use it. Cheers.

I like having websites for local restaurants, but I love having them for restaurants in cities I'm traveling to. I want to get ideas of where to eat, especially for the first day when I know we'll arrive hungry and tired. A FB page will do if it has the location, hours, and a menu.
