We're ready! I've got flour and yeast so we're good as far as bread goes and I've got powdered milk in case of a milk-related emergency. Might fill the gas can so we'll have some for the generator but otherwise we're in pretty fair shape. Most important is that we've got 50# of dog food in the bin! Can't risk the pups missing a meal.

Speaking of generators...We've got a metric-ton of 'em in the warehouse at Cabela's. If anyone loses power, come onnnnn down and I'll hook ya up.

I heard the word "catastrophic" describing this storm. Hmmmm.
I will say my friends' flight into Texas scheduled for tomorrow was canceled. This'll be interesting.

My brides company Christmas party is Saturday night, with most of the people flying in from out of town tomorrow. Like you said, should be interesting.

I'll be driving back from Huntsville tomorrow right in the middle of it. I hope the frost giants don't claim me! (or, you know, a light wind, which is probably what we'll get)

"A storm that could dump as much as an inch of snow and sleet on Louisville is expected to hit the city Friday, the National Weather Service said."

Did he -really- use the words "dump" and "an inch of snow" in the same sentence ? I'm pulling this guys man card right now.

This guy must be from a ski state like Colorado. When the Pacific storms blew through Washington we always prayed for a major "dump" in the mountains. Very common term among skiers.

You seriously can't find a sled in this town even in the dead of winter. Of course I only notice this once every three years when there's enough snow to warrant a search, but someone should get on this.

Sam's Club carries them. (and maybe Costco, but I'm not sure about Costco)

At least we're not in Minneapolis...Where they have 7 inches of snow on the ground and are expecting a low tonight of -14 with wind chills of minus 35 degrees....oh yeah and a foot of ice already on the lakes.

Yeah, but that's just life there. They don't completely spaz if the weather terrorist there says the word snow. I'd rather be there where people are bonkers about this sort of thing.

Meh, I gotta say I don't miss that stuff on a month after month basis...February and March were my two toughest months when I lived there...That being said, I -DO- miss not being there in November and December. The snow and cold always made the "Holidays" feel more like THE "Holidays". As it stands today, hell I've -fished- in weather worse than this (albeit through a hole in the ice)

You would thank that would apply to Maine, but I'm here to tell you that it took a good month of storms (usually called "October") before folks got even a little settled into the idea of winter there. And do they ever do their fair share of spazzing, which is evidenced by the fact one of the local weathermen has been given the nickname of "panics Mannix." Amazingly, two inches of snow can be enough to close the schools up there. Of course by the following May, snow is getting Really Old.

On the other hand, I grew up around Chicago where they have some serious weather, and most folks there take it in stride. The fifteen mile commute that's an hour and a half in good weather becomes a four hour commute in the bad, but most everybody still goes to school and work.
