Stopped by for an early lunch today. Definitely not your average Mexican-styled restaurant. My plate had a dusted rim and the food was garnished with a fresh parsley sprig! Really a nice environment. Probably five or six tables by the time I left. Hope they do well.

Bob and I were there for lunch today also (based on Steve P's recommendation) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The presentation was very attractive and an unexpected plus! I really liked the Cowgirl sampler that I had--the tamales were fabulous. Everything had a lighter, fresher taste than I have had in other Tex-Mex places which to me is a good thing! There were 5 or 6 tables when we left so hopefully word is getting around--Bob says they need to work on their beer list :( Look forward to going back!

Wife and I stopped by for dinner last night after all the interest seen here and we concur, this place is a keeper.

We had the Kentucky Donkey and Donkey Ranchero and both were excellent. Very fresh ingredients and artfully presented. Margaritas were tasty, although I did not taste much of a tequila pour.

We'll definitely be back to work our way through the menu as the Tex Mex and 100% Mexicano sections looked enticing.

Thanks to the early posters for the tip!

Wanted to wait to post till after we had our group there. We had 13 people on a Thursday night and they had a fair number of other customers as well on an off night. Service was on point and friendly. A staffer came out to make guacamole fresh at the (long) table. As many have read in the recent media reviews, plenty of warm house made tortilla chips with multiple interesting warm dips were provided. We had a bunch of apps, drinks and entrees. Won't bore folks with my lame attempts at description as that is not my strength in this life. The interesting thing is everyone was really pleased, which is not an easy thing with a fair sized group of people. Surprised at how good Hay!! Chi Wa Waa is would be more accurate. Besides enjoying the food while dining my wife and I noticed that even after eating as much as we pleased we did not, as so often can happen, feel like bloated ticks weighed down by the food and wanting to just lay down. On the contrary, my wife and I felt quite sated but not uncomfortable and so were able to go to bed with no gastric discomfort through the night. This is an enormously useful observation about a restaurant I've never seen in any review so it seems my limited descriptions are in some respects better than published reviews. Anyway, the gastric afterglow I'd say is a sign of high quality. This town has a ton of Latin American restaurants and the nearest comparison of the 126 places in that genre we've been to (roughly half still in operation & half RIP) is to Guaca-Mole among those still in operation. For someone who lives on the Sunny Side and remembers how interesting A La Fiesta could be during it's too short lifespan (c.2003-2004), it takes that one up a notch or two.
Between Guaca-Mole and Hay!! Chi Wa Waa we have two gauntlets thrown down by unrelated Latin American operators that are raising the bar.
