I can't donate blood because I lived in England for a year in the early 90's - due to concerns about mad cow disease. Ironically, I haven't eaten meat in over 20 years.

I encountered the same problems donating blood after living in France for a couple of years even though I had been a very regular donor previously. They sure are cutting off a lot of potential donors these days for hard to prove issues. By the way I did eat and do eat meat!
