Stephen accomplished what he needed to with the post. If you had any sensitivity for this issue you would have refrained from making your callous remarks.

Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it didn't have the desired effect.

I'm wondering what the desired effect was supposed to be. With no name or place mentioned, and apparently no reason for anyone to weigh in, it appears to be a personal message that has no place on a public message board. It's not so much insensitivity towards the issue at hand but rather the route taken in handling it.

Again Gary took the words right out of my mouth.
If he didnt want public comment on his post he shouldnt have posted it on a public message forum. This is just as silly as telling people "dont comment on my Facebook postings!" Well if you dont want public comment dont say things in the modern equivalent of the town square while standing on a soap box.

Which leads to the whole reason I posted in the first place. If you were sooo concerned about a bigoted employee at a local eatery but didnt want to besmirch the entire restaurant's reputation then you should have had a private one on one conversation with the management or business owner. Not posted it on a forum and then claimed you were so well known that the owner's would immediately know you meant their specific business, take notice and rectify the situation. That's just silly.

and after seven posts between the two of you "like" thinkers, you still don't understand. Imagine that! The OP has ceased to respond to you now asking you to let it go yet you have to make sure we all hear one more time how you think this situation should have been handled.

Of course you know how this should have been handled. Not having been there and admitting you don't understand what the OP was trying to accomplish. That's no deterrent to people like you. Who needs the facts or an understanding of the situation anyway? You've grasped this whole thing without them and feel entitled to tell him how he should handle it.

I see it now, I shall begin to take my cues from you and the new assistant civility monitor.

Here's the marvelous thing about public forums Shane.
I get to decide what I would like to respond to.
I get to decide what my opinion on someone else's posting is.

Not the OP and certainly not you.

Given people's brusque dealings with you in what is now multiple threads do you think they are all the ones with the problem? Or you?

I just want to uselessly weigh in one more time so the uselessness of my weigh ins can be reaffirmed.

This thread has gotten out-of-hand.

There used to be a time when we would give each other birth on rants. It would appear those days are over. I'm fine with that.

When you fellas decide to post something that bothers you about (x), I'll make sure to spank the hell out of it. (I won't really- I'll avoid it like the plague, because I'm nicer than that.)

In keeping with my position on this subject, I will not call anyone to the mat, if that's alright by you. The person said some stupidity and it should be addressed. I can handle this how I want to handle this. I appreciate your opinion and all, but you jumped the shark two pages ago...

Honestly, this thread should have died a long time ago. A one-n-done rant. Instead it's become an international incident. Over what?

Now I fully encourage you to start a thread yourself, over something that 'grabs-the-guts.' Weighing-in is cool, but it takes real moxie to initiate the conversation.

We can agree that we disagreed, but can enjoy each other's company at the bar. It doesn't have to be a bar fight)

You have to hear this as spoken by Comic Book "Best episode evar" Guy from the Simpson's:

Um, yeah. The correct word is berth.

If you post something on a public discussion forum, you should not be surprised or miffed when it people discuss it.

If you don't want people discussing it, find another venue.

And THIS is why I love you. Whether I agree or disagree, you have guts.

Sorry for not letting this thread die, but I felt I needed to extend some love.
