:? ....I'm beginning to think I'm the only one in the world who can still find enjoyment sitting in the stands listening to the crack of the bat all the whilst scarfing a few stadium dogs and tossing back a few cold Buds.

If this is the sort of argument we're having then we're doing pretty well vs 20 years ago. Look, stadiums worldwide sell the crappiest beer and the crappiest food at stupid markups. I guess if you had to suck it up and drink a Hoegaarden... well there's worse stadium experiences you could have. My local arena sells Krombacher (half decent) for about 6 bucks a beer for comparison sake.

We just spent two weeks in the ultra fabulous USofA including five days in the 502 and everywhere we went there was very good, and sometimes incredible beer on offer. Hands down much better choice than in Germany. The worst we had was a six pack of Blue Moon from a gas station in rural North Carolina. Everywhere else we were spoiled for choice.

My only complaint is that craft beers are hideously expensive on a retail level.... c.a. 30% higher than even Belgium. That's off puttish but won't stop me moving back. On a side note we had craft cheeses in NC that literally flipped the bird at the French and we are serious French cheese geeks.

Now.... time to check Ryanair for Copenhagen flights :)

You can thank our wonderful government and all the taxes they put on alcohol here. Just in KY, the state gets 18% wholesale plus a 6% retail sales tax. In some places in KY, the local government can enact up to an 8% sales tax on booze.

Shane,

I have spent quite a bit of time last evening and this morning looking into your question and have summarized my findings and a course of action moving forward below.

SNIP

- We offer a selection of over 20 nationally distributed domestic and import beers so there are many options for our fans who wish to enjoy a wider selection of beers during a Bats game.

SNIP

I think Mr. Cruz offers some great insight into their product and standards of quality in how it is served that definitely present some challenges in a baseball stadium ...

Mr. Breeding rather confuses locally brewed craft beer with multinational industrial pet shampoo, but I'll go with it.

I imagine these same quality challenges hold true for the bountiful selection of taste-alike domestic and imported beers, seeing as they originate from considerably further away than AtG, BBC and Alltech, and yet for whatever reason, the local crafts still are outnumbered 20+ to 2.

Oh, right; that's different.

Prohibition in this instance does not refer to America's failed experiment, but to a ban on logic at Louisville Slugger Field.

This thread has inspired me to go drink copious amounts of Bud Light draft from lines that have probably never been flushed. And I'm going to have the best time.

When Roger Baylor likens things to pet shampoo, I get a sense of illustration - and I like my techno-colored world.

Budweiser is specifically marketing to people who like it in the can.

I'm going to leave this helpful tip here.

If you're ever at the yum center, you can get KY Bourbon Ale for the same price as any domestic draft. I believe all draft beers have the same price. I always go to the KY Ale bar and get 2 bourbon ales. Usually lasts me the whole event. Tastes delicious and 2x as much booze as a standard BMC draft.
A good beer is a beer that tastes good to you.

Great to know , Brice!
Too bad we didn't know when we were at Slugger for Thunder - we got Bourbon instead.
