Stopped in last night for a late night dinner with the family. We had the Short Ribs nachos..outstanding. Curry Mussels..even better..CEO Burger..WOW. The star of the night were the steak truffle fries! Kids had the trio of Homemade Ice Cream for dessert which I must admit I probably ate most of. Very nice dinner. We had the pleasure to talk to Fernando and Christina as well. Class act all the way around. Kuddos guys, can't wait to get back over.

Got to dog pile on here. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at MBB last night. Soft shell crab sliders were the best since I had them more than 30 years ago at Myra's on Grinstead Drive. Short rib nachos, wonderfully complex with flavors that introduced themselves to you one at a time, not a muddled mess of flavors. And the beer/blue cheese mussels were rich and tasty.
Oh yeah, I'll be going back. And soon too!

We’ve been twice so far and both times were fantastic! To our delight, the menu is quite varied ( not just mussels and hamburgers). We had very different meals the two times we went – and both were delicious!

The first time was solo adults. Great cocktails at the nice spacious bar- a Wildcat and Red Bulleit. The Wildcat was my fav- this coconut cocktail is just slightly sweet (and packs a whollop  )- perfect summer drinking. For our appetizer, I had Soft Shell Crab sliders ( very good, perfectly fried. I was worried about filling -up so I left much of the housemade cornmeal bun they came on, but the crab alone was very tasty) . For main, Brian had the Short Rib Nachos ( outstanding) and I had the Turkey Duck Confit Panini. The latter was a recommendation from Cristina, and it was amazing! Some kind of housemade bread layered with a very generous portion of turkey, duck confit, brie and fig marmalade. Yum! Sweet, salty, yummy goodness. A large sandwich- I could only eat half. If you love the duck confit flatbread at Mojito- you MUST try this. We shared an order of the truffle pomme frites- excellent , as good as the ones we love at Hammerheads. Service was very, very good despite being there their first Friday open ( they were slammed!)

3 days later: we’d had a very difficult day and decided that Mussel & Burger Bar would be the antidote, so we headed off- this time bringing our 8 year old. It was burgers and beer all around ( well, Aiden had lemonade). When Aiden declared that he wanted his burger med-rare, our excellent server Melina recommended ordering the burger sliders instead of the kids burger. Between us we had the Burger Sliders, La Cubana and the BBQ burger- all were amazingly good ( and messy) and cooked to perfect medium-rare. The flavor pairings are perfect on these burgers- each wonderfully unique and intensely flavored ( no whimpy burgers here!) . Aiden declared the burgers “Extreme burgers” – a very appropriate analysis. ;-) Between the 3 of us, we had three different pomme frites: regular ( herb and salted), truffle , and the sweet potato with smoky pineapple dipping sauce. All were great, but the latter was the favorite that night- best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had and the smoky pineapple dip was the prefect pairing. Melina was an excellent server, which completed our experience. Way too stuffed for dessert, we left with many leftovers and in a totally different mood than when we’d arrive. Thanks, Fernando and Cristina- we really needed that!

After reading all the glowing reviews, I finally went to Mussel & Burger Bar last eveing. My expectations were higher the Mt. Everest. They were exceeded!

The evening began with two shared appetizers: the soft-shelled crab sliders and the short rib nachos. All that was missing from the sliders was the sea breeze. The crispiness of those little legs and the tang of the slaw dressing. I can't begin to explain how much fun I had licking my fingers. I think that it is my new favorite L'ville food. Then there were the nachos - I'm not a short rib fan - usually means too much grease for me, but not these. And, oh the layers of flavors - a symphony was being played on my tongue. For my entree I chose the appetizer portion of the curried mussels. I've run out of superlatives; needless to say I was in near organismic heaven. I actually was considered reciting Meg Ryan's famous lines from When Harry Met Sally.

I can't wait to return. The only negative, if there is one, is the size - humongous! Two shared appetizers and an appetizer portion for my entree. I was stuffed beyond my gills!

Then there is the price point - such a deal! Mussel & Burger Bar is Food Heaven and Bargain City rolled into one. I saved the best for last - it is east of the Waterson! Can you tell that I fell in love w/ this place? And on Tuesday, March 4 they open for lunch!

Had dinner last night with my girlfriend. Hard to find place but worth the search. Did the call ahead seating and walked right into our table. Server was very friendly and professional the whole meal. We spkit the foie gras app. It was good, hard to find a casual place that will serve a straight uo seared foie. We each got burgers. I was skeptical because of all the press they had gotten so quickly from Eater for being a top 25 burger in the country. I got the southern belle and she had the breakfast burger. Both were really good. I was actually surprised. I will definitaly go back.

On a critical note. The decor outside looks horrible and inside looks like half an idea was done. Beer list was a low point as well. Louisville is a strong beer city and I would have hoped for more diversity in yhe menu.

Cant wait to go back again.

My wife and I dined there last night also. I agree on the mention of outside decor. the lights made me think i was going into a seedy cellphone store or pawn shop. However, I don't go to a restaurant so my vehicle can have something to look at while we dine.

Despite how packed the parking lot was, they seated us right away. The wife started with a spicy Mary that she said was one of the best she has had albeit not exactly spicy. I had the red bulleit which was good but a bit on the sweet side for me. The beer list was varied but nothing spectacular. Some draft offerings would be ideal. Also listing seasonal on the beer list is lazy, especially when your server doesn't know what it is.

Service was ok. It took a few minutes to get to us in our far corner seats.

Onto the food. Fan f'n tastic. We had the soft shell crab sliders as an app. The wife ordered a Greek burger and I ordered the curry mussels. She opted for the sweet potato fries and I had the truffle oil steak fries. Some of the best dipping sauces I have tasted. The smoked pineapple sauce was amazing and unique. The mussels were perfectly cooked and enoughfor two.

This place is an excellent value. Our meal for 2 with 3 drinks was only $55. If this place was in more prime dining real estate, I would say it was worth it at double the price. As it is, it will be a frequent stop for us.

It's not that far out.
Easy to get to really.
Take I-64 to Hurstbourne and head south toward J-Town.
Turn left heading south at Taylorsville Rd. about a 1/2 mile down after passing Taco Bell and Pizza Hut on right, take right slip ramp into the office strip and go straight.
Mussel Burger is last space in building on right.
If you miss the little exit into the office park then turn right on Six Mile Ln at next the light and take first right and head straght and you will run right into it.

We finally had our date night tonight after we were too tired this weekend, and I am glad we waited. I don't know if I would have tried Mussel and Burger Bar on a weekend but on a Wednesday evening it was no wait. I had such high expectations I thought I may be setting myself up for a letdown but my expectations were exceeded far and away. We had the short rib nachos for our app , hubby had the seafood burger, I had the BBB burger .Jermaine was our server, he was great. There were no complaints whatsoever. I cannot wait to go back! :D

If you hate waiting for tables like I do, I recommend checking out Mussel-burger Bar ASAP! As I was enjoying my meal, cocktails and IU Basketball in the bar Tuesday night, I peeped in the dining room on my way out and recognized a local food critic for another widely read daily publication at a table.

After riding bikes with my sister yesterday we thought we would try it. We got there and were so weirded out by the outward appearance we just decided to go somewhere else. I'm superficial like that.

The rope lighting on the columns, the empty store fronts, and the banner hanging off of another stores awning, did not inspire me to spend $14 on a burger.

Honestly, and not being snarky here, it's your loss.

The exterior is quite random, but it impacted my enjoyment of the food none. So where did you end up? DD

Adriel,

Their close on the building was delayed, and they opened very quickly. I'm sure all the changes are in the works but you'd be amazed at how long customized signage /awnings can take, Don't be fooled by outward appearances ( which I honestly don't find problematic- just hard to find). Inside is nice and the food is fantastic! ( and most of the entrees are less than $14).
