We actually went for the former Cafe Perusa, the space is beautiful and we should have it ready by opening time January 21. You can see our facebook page here.

Is this the place in jtown in the stoneybrook shopping center? If so I am in big trouble. 2-3 minutes from my house! Not good at all!

Kris,
If I remember correctly, it's in J-town but not in Stonybrook. It's in a very small strip center behind where HH Greg is. Beautiful space, with a great bar but unfortunately Cafe Perusa never took off.

It's in the strip that has Stoney Brook Dental in it. At the end of the building that faces Six Mile Ln. I can basically throw a rock and hit it from my home in Forest Hills across the street, so you will probably see Colleen and I in there a lot! :D

I finally had the opportunity to try Guaca-Mole and was thoroughly impressed by the whole experience.

I love the chef-driven menu and the food itself was fantastic. I had the pepita salad and duck confit flautas - $6 each at lunch which is a tremendous value. The salad was full of red veined sorrel/arugula and perhaps 4 oz of goat cheese. Duck confit flautas were crazy good with the red jalapeno marmalade. The food was so damn good up to that point that I decided to order some dessert - bread pudding with banana ice cream and salted caramel.

Service was attentive and very friendly - this place is a total package (but most of you know that already).

I just wanted to chime in as an out-of-towner. I can't wait to try their new burger venture!
