*****Edit**** What have I said about marketing, that works?, "gotta to be good at bad". Words, good at negative commentary. If Gigi's piles their frosting too high, or other cc shops plagerize, or imitation and flattery are at play,or a product is dry, people are talking about it! Yay, and in this economy, and for what this product is, more power to it all.

If you have not read it, please go to your local independently owned book store and buy Seth Godin's "The Purple Cow", (Carmichael's should have it) I have been giving it as gifts for years, and see what he says about marketing. All this lovely embattlement, and excitement over cake products is intriguing.

I was craving a chocolate cupcake today, I looked to my left, and then to my right. St. Matthews was not an option, and Norton Commons was not an option. Not a big fan of frosting, I went to Costco, and bought chocolate chip muffins.

All the best, whether you "push them" or shove them, or "stick them" G-d speed.

Thanks for the edit heather. It comes off a little "sweeter" the second time around.
My first (and probably only) cupcake shoppe experience was from the Cupcake shop for a baby shower and according to the guests were quite lovely. They definitely looked delicious. I don't understand from a personal viewpoint how L'ville can support so many sweet shops, but so be it.
I DO know that I live in terror of the 'Cold wars' of Comfy vs Homemade. I'm going to have to change my walking route with my kid. Explore the back alleys so to speak.

[Thanks Deb! I am not new to the industry just new to the forum, In fact the restaurant biz is pretty much all I have ever known, not even 30 yet and almost been in the industry half my life The most recent place before starting my own business was working for the last 5 years at Ramsi's Cafe on the World. I'm not going anywhere lol. I have to much pride to be scared off that easily :D I just didn't want to start off on the wrong foot or may I say "leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth" so to speak.

Thanks for the support! I appreciate it.

Jamie,
Sorry for the Faux pax. And you are right, leaving a " bad taste in anyone's mouth" is clearly NOT your intent. :D

So can I ask a stupid question: what's the point of a Cupcake Push pop? Is it just fun packaging, or is there an actual purpose/function? Inquiring minds want to know....

I've found them to be just fun packaging. They can be quite messy to eat if you push the stick up too quickly.

@Leah, where can I catch up with you? I saw from the posts that this was not your first rodeo. I'm rather a cupcake snob if it must be known, I want to get a professional opinion. (aka my kid)

Leah,
Thanks. I bet you the preschool set would love them- they only want to eat the frosting anyway...

I DO greatly appreciate your offer of giving you guys another try. I also understand the opening bumps. When we are back in that area of town, I'll certainly pop in again!

You can order a doz minimum cupcakes and pick them up, or check my calendar at www.LouisvilleDessertTruck.com. You can pre-order and I'll have your order on the Truck. I'm highly likely to be at the 21st Century Parks Movie Night on Friday of this week. Not on the calendar yet, but if the weather holds . . . it will show up soon. Beckley Station Road area.

And, oh yes, I've been at the Professional baking rodeo for over a decade. (Actually been baking for 50+ years, but let's not discuss that number. LOL)

I must have the weirdest preschooler in town. He pushes off the frosting and wants the cake. The chocolatier it is..the better! (Definitely not me. I want the frosting piled high!! The cupcake is just the vehicle that gets it in my mouth.)

Aww, thanks!

:D

I'm a proud stepfather- I'm still learning to get ahead of the fastball- but we're getting there.

I can tell you, for sure, that Wyatt is a frosting boy. Banana Nut Bread for me and Double Dutch Chocolate for mom...

Please...

Megan,

Yes you do. Every preschool thru 1st grade class I've every brought cupcakes to eats all the frosting and leaves the cupcake. That's when I stopped making cupcakes from scratch- it was too painful...

Megan, I'm sure that you don't have the weirdest pre-schooler in town. I taught kindergarten for 14 years and, as I remember, in those days of large classes (32-35) that there was usually one or two children that ditched the frosting in favor of the cake.
