UPDATE # 3

Another great LOCAL brewery is stepping up to the plate.
!! New Albanians Occupy Charlestown Pizza !!
New Albanian will be visiting the Charlestown Pizza company on Tuesday December 6th from 5 - 8pm.

As usual we'll be offering free tastings of their beers and a representative from the brewery will be there to interact and connect with you.

We've had the unique opportunity to offer the broadest range of NABC beers on draft outside of the actual NABC locations. We have never repeated the same NABC beer twice on draft at the CPC and we hope to continue that trend on December 6th.

Thanks Shawn

(if you're keeping track - Upland, Bee Creek, Alltech (Kentucky Ale), NABC, Schlafly, & Oaken Barrel have all actively assisted the CPC in recent months)

We appreciate contributing to CPC's uniqueness! It's where I go to hide when afforded the opportunity for a busman's holiday.

Next Tuesday the New Albanians will occupy the CPC and bring with them five intriguing beers that have never before graced our taps.

We're happy to be a unique pouring ground for NABC's unique beers and hope to make this event a little more unique than average beer tastings.

We'll be giving away some prizes and such during our first Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest.

We also are encouraging everyone to wear their NABC/Sportstime/RichO's gear for another series of prize giveaways. We'll be looking for the oldest NABC/Sportstime/RichO's shirts, the most unique NABC/Sportstime/RichO's items, and the overall best dressed New Albanian <whoever WE decide is wearing their colors the proudest>.
Of course current NABC and CPC employees are not eligible for prizes :(

Desserts and beer will also be on the agenda. Our ridiculous desserts will all utilize NABC beers during their creation.

Reese's Brownies made with Thunderfoot and a Cinnamon Glazed Doughnut Bread Pudding made with Naughty Claus are my first thoughts.

Thanks
Shawn

Oh, yes the beer tastings in Indiana are always FREE :D

Update # 4 (for those keeping track)

Our next upcoming participants in the CPC's strategy to connect breweries to beer drinkers are the long lived and much loved Bluegrass Brewing Company and the new kids from Indiana, Great Crescent Brewing.

Great Crescent will be conquering the taps in Charlestown on Tuesday February 21st from 5pm until 8ish.
GC is located in Aurora, Indiana which is a little west of Cincinnati along the banks of the Ohio River.
Great crescent brews an impressive line up of beers including their Coconut Porter, Cherry Ale, Aurora Lager, & IPA. I'm not quite sure what they'll be bringing to tap at the CPC, but I'm quite sure it will be delicious.
(I believe they will be starting off a week of Southern Indiana events at the CPC, so watch for them at other establishments as well.)
http://gcbeer.com/Great_Crescent_Beers.html

The following Tuesday, February 28th The Bluegrass Brewing Company will be crossing the river to blanket our taps with their brews. (5pm - 8ish)
As many of you know, the BBC is the longest running craft brewery in Louisville and continues to be the most widely distributed Kentucky brewed beer. I lost track of all medals/awards they've won at various beer competitions/events, but needless to say they brew good beer.
We're looking forward to reintroducing everyone on this side of the river to the BBC's quality line up of beers.

Thanks
Shawn

(we're working on bringing several more Indiana breweries to Charlestown for events throughout the winter and spring)

Just a reminder

Tonight 2/21/12 5- 8 pm
Great Crescent Brewery from Aurora, Indiana will be joining us at the CPC with five great draft beers.

As always, our beer tasting events are free and open to everyone over 21 years of age.

Thanks
Shawn

I couldn't make it for the BBC tasting tonight but I stopped by earlier in the day for a couple of delicious IPAs from Great Crescent. Shawn was there and he broke out a couple of special brews for me to try as he always does. I can't remember what they were but they both had a sour component and I'm really starting to appreciate this aspect of beer.

Thank you Shawn. I appreciate you taking the time to help me broaden my tastes!

Just wanted to offer our appreciation to Phill (AKA the BBC Beer Pimp) for coming out to the CPC for our Bluegrass Brewing Company tasting on Tuesday.
Also, the Hell for Certain aged in Bourbon Barrels for two years may be the best local barrel aged beer I've had since the NABC's Bourbon Daddy.

Our Five year Anniversary party will be in two weeks on March 13th and we're planning on having New Holland Brewing come down for a tasting in early April.

Thanks again
Shawn

Tonight from 5-8ish
New Holland Brewery will be at The Charlestown Pizza Company for a FREE beer tasting and tap take over.

The beers:

Imperial Hatter IPA
A robust renovation of the India Pale Ale. Assertive dry-hoppying provides an aromatic telltale nose, indicative of the bitter symphony to follow. Bold hop character with lively grapefruit and citrus notes.

Charkoota Rye Smoked Doppelbock
Charkoota Rye is a Smoked Rye Dopplebock. An homage to all things Pig, including Porkapalooza and the age-old tradition of Charcuterie, Charkoota Rye’s malty backbone is derived from a blend of rye and four other malts, including malted barley smoked over cherry wood. Its smoke-forward body is balanced with tones of deep mollasses and caramel, with a crisp, clean lager finish.

Golden Cap Saison Ale
Golden Cap Saison is a modern interpretation of a traditional farmhouse ale. A soft, pale beer, Golden Cap embodies the flavors and aromas of summer fields. Brewed with an ancestor of wheat called spelt, its straw-colored body, lively carbonation and a unique fermentation profile evoke fresh cut hay and cracked peppercorn.

Cabin Fever Brown Ale
Robust in character yet smooth in delivery, Cabin Fever is a roasty brown ale and a hearty, comforting companion for long, mind-bending winters. Its rye, roast and raisin notes play off a subtle caramel sweetness and culminate in a dry finish. Excellent with roasts, stews, caramelized onions and snowfall.

and
Envious
Michigan pears fuel a second fermentation, providing subtle nuance between grain & fruit. A slumber on oak and local raspberries adds depth and tartness.

It should be an evening of great beers :)

Thanks

Shawn could have had his own little brewfest from all of the brewers attending ADI Craft Distiller's Conference. We were slated to take two kegs out for Happy Hour. The boss just ordered two more. Will four kegs be enough for 600 thirsty conference goers?

Shawn, not trying to hijack your thread. David's reference to the ADI conference made me curious. Here is a link to an article written yesterday about the conference being held in Louisville.

I can't come tonight but I might be able to pop in tomorrow. Think you will have any New Holland left?

You guys could have brought some of those fine distilled beverages to the CPC :)

Shane there will be plenty of New Holland left for the remainder of the week, although nothing is under 6% ABV, so I won't be able to provide any sessionable beer for you. I suspect the keg of Imperial Mad Hatter will be the first to blow given the hoppy preferences of CPC drinkers.
And I suspect, you'll prefer the Cabin Fever (a nice rich brown with a dry finish).

All of the New Holland beers are only $4 a pint this week, so I suggest you take advantage of my generosity

Next week , Sun King Brewery from Indianapolis will be visiting.

Thanks
Shawn

Four kegs and two cases of bombers gone, and we limped across the finish line at 5:53 p.m. yesterday when the final drops of Community Dark left the tap. Like I noted at Facebook, now I know what distillers do as they wait for their whisky to age in the barrel. They drink quite a lot of beer.
