The problem with Nancy's is that they might be okay as some kind of a bun, but they're just too heavy and gummy to be bagels. I would say that they resemble NYC bagels like Cincinnati chili resembles Tex-Mex chili, but that wouldn't really be fair to Cincinnati chili.

I grew up in Southfield, MI, outside Detroit, and the bagels there are pretty awesome. Haven't had a New York bagel, but if they taste anything like the ones in Michigan then I'm game - love a warm egg bagel coated in poppy seeds!
