Another pizza question. Just got back from NYC and am still thinking of a slice of pizza I got there. Where would be the best place to find something similar in Louisville? Papalino's? Boombozz? It was a crispy crust, sweet tomatoey sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Luigi's, Papalino's, or Boombozz Brooklyn style.

Perfetto's in Plainview.

And, arguably, Coals.

NB: We are not talking about orange grease here ...

My hometown, which styles itself the "birthplace of the tomato," has an annual Pizza Challenge at the Tomato Festival every September. You buy a ticket for $5 or $6, and get to try a (small) slice from each of 8 or 10 local pizza places, then vote for your favorite. The winner gets a trophy and bragging rights for the year.

It'd be cool to see something like that here.

I had a pizza at the Garage Bar late Saturday night. Add another place to the never-ending argument. That was a good pizza.

Yeah. It's handmade and looks great. There's a picture of it on their website. Click 'photo' and scroll down.

I reviewed it recently for The Voice and thought it was pretty good - we had the white pie. But I would say it's more a Louisville-style pizza than NYC - at least the whole pie. Maybe the slice differs?

Oh Robin, don't get the square pizza. I mean, it's fine. I like it.

Their round "New York Style" is where it's at. Cheese only please.

Yum.

If you're outside Jefferson County, try J. R.'s in Simpsonville. And there's my all time favorite, Joe Bologna's in Lexington. I don't understand why he won't open a place in Louisville.
