It's been gone for at least three months now, I think. There's already a sign in the window advertising a new bar coming soon.

Is that the fastest a place has come and gone here? I know my dates are off but they couldn't have been open more than 60 days.

I think Benny Impellizzeri's place on Lyndon Lane was open for less than a month. (Delighted that his current pizza empire is thriving.)

Maybe it is just me, but when people open a restaurant or bar, don't they have enough capital to operate for several months (if not 6) just to keep the place floating until it can gain a following? I was always taught that in the restaurant business if you can get in the black in under three years you have really accomplished something and to NEVER expect profit in the first six months. Is that wrong?

Are there other factors at play here that maybe we are not aware of?

No telling, Ronnie. I guess it's all speculation at this point. I don't think we've been made aware of anything that caused the closure of this place as of now.

Just noticed this post.

New place going into the old Recovery Room space is going to be a bar called the Hilltop Tavern. They will serve comfort food including barbecue, etc. I think they were hoping to be open this week, but I hear the space might not be ready that quickly. That's all I really know. They haven't come over to introduce themselves to us neighbors yet, so my info comes from our mutual Sysco rep.

The Recovery Room was open from July thru November. I believe some of the neighborhood folk were trying to get rid of them. The for lease sign was only up for a couple of days after they closed, so I think the landlord already had someone lined up to go in.

The neighborhood folk balked at a 4 am liquor license. That's as far as neighborhood balking went.
They got rid of themselves. I was hoping for a hole in the wall up on my corner block and got barely touched up paint, the same nasty bathrooms, and worn out blown out woven chairs left over from kbc.
Add the whole scrubs theme and plastic cups and what on earth would one expect? They euthanized themselves.

Your Sysco rep appears to be correct.
