All the mgmt staff was hanging out watching the "shoot", and the hourlys were all taking turns out back smoking. What a waste of time and money!! But there was a chance you might be on TV!!! :| I've been on TV and was not the least bit concerned, I just wanted my normal day off. I had kicked major butt that weekend and even made double batches of milk-based sauces and gravies, (only 6 gals) my "lesser experienced" KM told me he had tried to do and failed. WUSSY!! Thanks for nuthin'. I actually liked what I was doing there and would have continued, but alas, it was not meant to be. Did I mention I was job hunting? LOL

to Eve I hear what you are saying. Don't burn your bridges, etc. But I don't care, I feel my skills are beyond that, and no matter what I did or did not do on my last job, it would be, what I could do for you. I think JFK said it best "ASK NOT" etc. I stand by my work and will not take BS from anybody.

Just don't expect 2 weeks of vacation after 4yrs, much less 4 months when you open your own place. Sounds like Lynn's doesn't take a lot of BS either from unreasonable employees.

I just watched the episode thanks to my still-kicking VCR. The main thing that stood out for me, was the host's pronunciation of Louisville. Clearly, that guy lived here. :D

As far as Lynn's, I take friends there from out of town, partly because it's near my house, and partly because I do think it's a cool place and the food is good. Lynn Winter may indeed be a train wreck, but the show didn't portray her as such, imo.

servers work for 2.13 an hour plus tips ,not time and a half u get for working over 40 hrs a week in a warehouse ,and more than likely u wont get paid anymore for coming in on your off days for T.V.promos ,shift meetings and cleaning parties its not that we dont want to do those things we just dont get paid for them UNLIKE PEOPLE WHO GET PAID A HIGHER HOURLY WAGE PLUS OVERTIME ,WE DONT GET THAT IF ARE TIPS AVERGE MIN WAGE OVER 40 HRS, O AND THOSE SERVICE CHARGES ON PARTYS THEY DONT HAVE TO GIVE US THOSE EATHER ,AS LONG AS THEY PAY US MIN WAGE .WE ARE RARLY PROVIDED ANY VACATION PAY OTHER THAN A CHECK FOR 30 HRS AT MIN WAGE. o and at the end of the year we owe taxes that we pay are selves ,because the hourly wage we made didnt cover almost any of what taxes we owed SO i understand why u want to go in to work on your off day after u busted your ass over the weekend of derby being your not getting paid for it other than something they put on a check that u never see

Wow, I am getting basted on the spit here, let me set the record straight. I liked what I was doing and everybody else thought I was doing a good job. The job I filled was vacant for 6 months because nobody else could handle it!!!! I tried to train 4 different people to fill in for me on my honeymoon, and they were in place when I was terminated. Thinking they would last more than a couple of weeks, I respectfully requested my time off , of which, I told them when I was hired. I am a happy man,and all my co-workers were happier than they had been in months. (being happy at work is Lynn's mantra) So don't go bustin' on me for being the best I can be. She will continue, as will I... PS the name of my place is HAPPY'S, so keep your eyes open.

Cool down brother, he's not even a server. And if it's such a frustrating job what about finding another?

Some people just weren't cut out to work for others. I think I'll just leave it at that. 8)

Serving is my profession and I love it.
Just want to keep the record straight.
Good tips, bad tip, or no tips.... service is my craft.
Although I may vent on this forum on server related issues....my intention is not to preach..simply inform... and show another point of view.
After all while many of the folks on this forum are well versed in the practicality of a quality dinning experience they may not recognize the reality of a person who is delivering the food....who has studied the food...the wine and the menu.
Serving is my career choice.
My name is Matt and I am delighted to have you in my section.

The only thing about that episode that bothered me is the continued perpetuation of the myth that bourbon must be made in KY.

Yes, some 95% of the world's bourbon is made in KY, but there is bourbon being made in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio and other places. Some of it is even tolerable. The only restriction on distilling location is that it must be made in the US (there are a number of other things it must be to be called bourbon). Imported whiskey cannot be called bourbon regardless of all those other things.

We still make the best bourbon, we just don't make all the bourbon.

While it doesn't have to be made here, Kentucky is the "home" of bourbon. . .

* Bourbon is an American whiskey, a type of distilled spirit, made primarily from corn (maize) and named for Bourbon County, Kentucky. It has been produced since the 18th century. While it may be made anywhere in the United States, it is strongly associated with the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Yeah. What you said. Kentucky is synonymous with bourbon. I don't understand how perpetuation of a some myth or whatever could stick in one's craw. We do pretty much all of the world's bourbon. And we're dang proud of it, shoo-ee!
