I finally made it in to steal some silverware... sadly there wasn't a spoon with the salt bowl, so I left empty handed.
I did leave full stomached, though... even if full stomached isn't a real phrase.
Opened with the Potato Boats... potato skins are a simple and delicious affair... made even better with the addition of great chili and wonderful bacon.
My blushing bride got the "best hot brown in the city" (according to the owner Kevin) she did not dispute the claim, and it was definitely up there (Shady Lane's is great and traditional... Lou Lou makes it into a delightful pizza)
I had the Meatloaf Sandwich. It was succulent and wonderful... I'm a condiment fiend, and did not bother to complain there was no ketchup on the table. It was delicious enough on its own.
The highlight of the meal for me was the sweet potato fries and the marshmallow bourbon dip. After I tried the first one, I started to eagerly anticipate my next foray into the sauce as I was dipping the fry into it... it was seriously good.
We passed on the 1/2 priced bottles of wine (Wine-d down Wednesday), as she claims that Red Wine tastes like Jesus (and not in a good way) and I'm tend to stay away from whites... with sodas, the meal came to $45 (54 after tip, attentive servers, great attitude, wonderful atmosphere).
We were both way too full to have dessert, and regretted it... the banana pudding with meringue almost made me binge and purge and binge.
Definitely bringing friends back there... great food, great service, great atmosphere. The azaleas are in bloom... We wanted a special dinner tonight and most definitely got one.
