Funny thing happened to me at Dirty Kroger the other day....I was looking for the generic "Mantequilla" as it is an excellent product and when I couldn't find it anywhere, asked the guys stocking the dairy section. I was told that Kroger's "policy" (albeit unwritten) is, if it's popular and not their brand, they quit stocking it! I made friends with the grocery manager at that Kroger about 10 years ago and now, I just ask him if he can try to get something in if I don't see it.

On the topic of the thread, I was in Goss Ave Kroger for a couple of goodies the other day and had no issue at all. Matthew, I can understand your frustration, maybe you were just having a bad day and that experience topped it off. On the whole though, I hope your rant made you feel better! I love the new Hubbards Lane store, but it is out of my way since I live downtown. I am excited about the Goss Ave store!

I've never seen a greeter at the Goss Kroger. Maybe I'm entering through the wrong door?

They've also done away with Green Giant canned green beans. Yes, I prefer canned green beans to fresh. What can I say?!?

I just visited the new Wine and Spirits at the Kroger on Goss. They have a decent wine selection and a very acceptable liquor selection. (Yes, they even had Pappy Van Winkle. ;) )

I don't know if this is true of the Goss store (I shop at the Middletown store, and it IS true there), but I think Kroger management misses out on a huge opportunity to endear their customers to the company by not asking their staff to actually be civil. Rarely do I find a person stocking the shelves to do more than almost treat a customer as a roadblock to their all-important stocking. I just think having employees who are outgoing with customers seems to be an easy way to win points.

I don't shop at Middletown Kroger often, probably twice a month on average (love that Fresh Market! :D ), but it is the Kroger that I have used for nigh unto twenty years. I can't recall ever dealing with an uncivil member of the Kroger team. In fact, I often ask a stocker to reach something from the back of a top shelf and I have not noted annoyance on his part.

I haven't run into any really unpleasant Kroger staff, and to my interest, the folks at "Dirty" Kroger are almost always cordial. No problems at St. Matthews Kroger, either, though, or in our occasional forays to Holiday Manor or Wrocklage.

The Middletown Kroger has one of the friendliest staffs I've ever seen in a grocery store, but the Shelbyville store is not friendly or helpful at all (and I can't figure out their placement of anything in that store).

Jessica, my mom works about 15 hours a week usually 12-4 PM. Typically she's by the main door handing out ads, coupons or stickers.... She's really tiny so you might miss her.

Anywho, she's been doing it for several years now just for something to do... She loves it and keeps up with all the neighborhood that way. Keeps her a very young 80 year old!

Our son works at the Kroger on Goss in night stock and doing floors. Believe me, the staff hates the construction problems more than you. Even before Eddy worked there, never had problems with surly staff, but then the one closest before that one opened was Kroghetto on 2nd St, which would make the Soup Nazi look friendly. Eddy will stop stocking and help any customer that needs help. I know that normally the management there is very responsive, but with the construction, they may be overwhelmed.

To tell the truth, the manager sets the tone for the store. Before we moved here, our Kroger was a small, older store in a old neighborhood and the manager hated it there. His attitude permeated to the whole store. It took a major shakeup and eventually a new store to make it inviting again to a lot of the customers.

Apparently, there have been some recent shake ups in management at the Goss Ave store. There was a little house cleaning before the remodel started. Some of it welcome by the staff and some not so welcome. I guess we'll see how it falls out.

Personally, I shop the Highland's store on practically a daily basis. Sometimes, twice a day. Haven't had any issues that weren't rectified at my request in 25 years. They will even stock or special order for you if you want...

My wife says it's the only Kroger she knows of that has crumpets as an alternative to English muffins.

I think the Goss store has crumpets, believe it or not.

The Middletown Store has those. They're kept over near the cheese/biscuits/cookie section. Thanks for reminding me of those! I used to buy them when I was doing WW.

Three pages, and counting, of posts on Kroger. Sometimes I find it a bit odd what gets folks excited.
