OK...what ya do is to get a thick (1/2") slice of Baloney, ya fry it up and at the last minute ya throw a big ol' piece of cheese (your choice) on it. Serve between two slices of non-artisan bread with plenty of yeller mustard. Serve it up with plenty of ice cold Bud in a frosty mug (preferably while watching a winning football team) and we're talking "food group" here...Next to Buffalo Wings, BBQ and Ammonia Burgers it's one of the best things known to mankind and probably the "NBT" with all the -really- trendy chefs.

no wonder.... i had it all wrong! Whenever i hear anyone mention fried bologna sandwiches, i am thinking that it is like a grilled cheese with a slice of bologna in it!

The best bologna comes out of a jar...pickled. A slice of pickled bologna, a saltine, and an RC....now you are in business. Sounds like my eastern KY childhood.

The only thing better is Vienna sausages on a Saltine...preferably while fishing. That worm-slime on your hands makes it -so- much better. Throw in an RC or an Orange Crush and yer in heaven. :P

I haven't eaten bologna/baloney since sometime around age 8 when I noticed our dog, who would eat anything, including sauerkraut, wouldn't touch the stuff. :P

My childhood dog wouldn't eat tofu.

Bill,

Your mom musta been using that cheap baloney...lots of ammonia in it. Spring for the -good- baloney, say 3 bucks a pound. Yep, I was at the Hillbilly Kroger (La Grange) today and picked up two big ol' hunks of good baloney (at least as good as it get's around here...ya gotta go to Amish country for REALLY good baloney). Anyway, I'm gonna fix a nice big baloney sammich tomorrow for lunch, so check back for the pics.

Two words: Lotsa Pasta. Real Italian mortadella with pistachios and black peppercorns studded in it. That's the ORIGINAL Bologna sausage. Serve it with Provolone cheese on ciabbata with a smear of artisanal mayo and you're good to go.

Robin....nahhhhhhh, that's -fancy- baloney. Fancy baloney doesn't go good on white bread with yellow cheese food and French's mustard. If I ate that stuff your talking about I'd have to raise both my pinky fingers when I grabbed the sammich.

Open the Oscar Meyer bologna , grab a few slices and some Velveeta "cheese" from the fridge; Miracle Whip; and White bread.

Wash down with Ski;Big-K;Ale-8;or Tahitian Treat.

SHEESH! I have to tell you everything about being Redneck.

I was with you until the mayo. I prefer aioli.
