I had a few bourbons and my girlfriend had a couple glasses of wine along with an order of the wonderful banana peppers. Drinks came…banana peppers came. Still enjoying the evening when we noticed it was taking a little long for the dinner to come out (salad w/ Salmon, fish tacos for me and a Pan Fried Flounder for my GF). When our server stopped by and we were told a food runner dropped our food. And he would like to comp us rolls and chips w/ salsa and a small queso. To which I was whatever and bring us another round. Yes, I am one of those guys restaurant people dislike. I don't bitch to the server, or the Management. I just never go back and tell all my friends.

Now, I have not eaten at CQ’s for years…due to one reason…yes, in my option the food. But, hey things change and I do enjoy the view and the bar.

So, our food comes out about ½ hour later…ok we have been here for about a hour and 15 min. Which again…I was not in a hurry…but, Queso and rolls to please me!

To review the food…My fish tacos…well sucked. Small chopped pieces of fish…I mean crumbs. They were just terrible. I have had them in the past and enjoyed them. Nice pieces of WHOLE fish. Never…never again. To be fair my GF and her Daughter did enjoy their meal.

Cost including 20% tip…89.00 or so.
View…Priceless.
But, in my option…drinks and the view...just saying

And as long as I have a complaint and it happened this night. Restaurant owner and managers...please instruct your servers when presented with payment to ask me "do you want your change" I gave you a $100 Bill for a 90.00 dinner incl a 20% tip...NEVER Assume it's all yours. In fact I have been asked if "I want change back" when I was charging the meal. Servers...this is on you. Your tip goes is at risk...

Thank you...

Scott,

First of all let me apologize on not replying sooner I snuck away for a couple of days after the weekend with no internet or phone. I do not know if you have worked in the hospitality industry but Mondays and Tuesdays are weekends for a lot of us .

I can see your frustrations when it came to the timing and delays on your food and either K.P, Jeremy, Chef Lee or myself should of came by and talked to you and your guests personally about the reasoning of the delay and offered some kind of restitution to you, either in food or monetary compensation.

When it comes to human error we unfortunately cannot control that, we work on 7.3 acres of property and food runners are a vital part of our operation and I am pretty sure in your comments you understood that it was an accident.

Our Fish Tacos have 8 ounces of broiled marinated tilapia on them and I do once again apologize if your order seemed full of "crumbs", they should of never walked out of the kitchen that way !, but like every business out there we need feedback to rectify concerns or comments from guests.

The assumption of questioning giving back change is not tolerated and never will be, also I am not questioning what you heard but be ensured that we do not practice it here and it will not be tolerated.

I hope that this does not deter your girlfriend and her daughter from visiting us again

First...I can't believe this post got this far out of hand.

Second...I am not a person that causes problems in a restaurant PERIOD. I deal with Restaurant owners, chef and servers each and every day and have for over 25 years. I understand their jobs and a busy Friday night…things happen. I was just upset the way it was handled.

Third...This post has no reflection on my professional career or the company I work for. There is an excellent chance that I have worked with the owner or designed the restaurant you work in...most of you...
Forth…Allen, thank you for your response. As you know I am near or on the River either with my Club or friends a few times a week…year around! I of course will be back to your Restaurant.

Also Allen, thank you for not questioning me in regards to the “change” issue. Believe me when I tell you it is my number one pet peeve in a restaurant. When it happens I can’t help but take note of it.

Cheers to all my friends on HotBytes…

I'm certainly not the forum moderator, but that seems like a perfectly eloquent way to close the thread. Three cheers for the principals.

Reagan H wrote:I find this entire post disgusting. Marsha, if you want to get dirty, we can examine everyone's autosig for veracity and accuracy. And we can look up the definition of libel, while we are at it. Don't you dare attack another entire business and other people's making a living for Scott giving his opinion on his meal.

Nothing about Scott's post was worth the attack he received. Disclaimer, Scott is a friend of mine, and I work at Chef Supply. Regardless, this is supposed to be a forum where just such posts can be aired. Apparently Alan didn't know Scott and his party as he personally did some of his other guests. Regardless, it was a bad experience for a customer and to chastise the person for the way they handled being treated rudely (why does this sound familiar?) is ridiculous, and quite beside his point.

Also, I have worked at CQ, and know the highs and lows that occur in such a large establishment. It happens, folks. That's why this forum exists. Isn't it?

Let's just all calm down. The point Marsha brought up as well as several others of us was that he didn't give the restaurant a chance to correct the problems. It's hard for them to correct problems if they don't know about them. It's the same in your business if you don't know about a problem you can't satisfy the customer! How would you feel if customers just didn't come back to your business because they had a bad experience and didn't tell you about it? That point has been brought up over and over in this forum, gives the restaurant a chance to correct the problem before you slam them about it. It's only common courtesy!
