I have to agree with Leah and her DH...I love this place, and actually prefer it over Dakshin's buffet. She hit the nail on the head by describing it as home-cokked Indian food.
My wife and I had the buffet for lunch on Saturday and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was fresh and tasty. The buffet featured some of the usual suspect (please excuse my mis-spelling) of chana masala, chicken curry, aloo gobi, naan, etc. along with a delicately (not too hot, but a bit of warmth and various Indian flavors) spiced dish of chicken and green peppers, a lemon / rice dish and more. This was all fantastic. On Saturday they feature chicken briyani, and it is the best briyani that I've ever had. The owner told us that on Sunday they do lamb briyani.
The family running the place is very kind and are really looking for more business. They made a point to tell us that, like in India, they do not use any heavy cream in their dishes...insinuating that some other loacl Indian places do. I believe he said he wanted to treat his customers to food that they would not only enjoy the taste, but also be good for them and filling...he really wants people to enjoy what they are eating and want to return! They are kind of hidden in that Hikes Point shopping center, but this place is well worth checking out. The food is great.
The ambiance is minimal, but the food made up for it. They also do carry-out. I hope this place can gain some support! DD
