You can't claim them for OC they are even inside the Snyder :!:

BARELY inside the Snyder...and I'm using 10-12 Min. from La Grange as the benchmark.

Regardless of what line you draw in the sand I'll still maintain that things aren't all THAT bleak in the O.C.

I simply do agree with that however any loss hurts.

Well...At least the O.C. has one restaurant that knows where to put their marketing dollars. Not to mention having great taste in sporting events (none of this puss hockey stuff) :D

From their Facebook page, here's Steve-O at last nights NASCAR race at KY Speedway

When operating my pizza shop in Crestwood, I never had trouble with the local government regarding alcohol. I had to jump through about 20 hoops to get it... including state inspections since we did a lot of remodeling. Once we had it though, for the 3 years or so we had the license it was pretty straight forward and easy.

The only issue I ever had was when I was doing my poker nights. They eventually said that I couldn't do the poker nights and said it was gambling. Even though I got it cleared with the county attorney first. Which was REALLY frustrating since I was basically competing with restaurants on the other side of the county line and I couldn't compete on a level playing field.

To add to the thread, Steve was located in La Grange and they have their own ABC administrator, and license rules, which are above the county rules, which I had no experience with.

Talking about distance and driving etc... It goes beyond restaurants. My GF lives in Crescent Hill and I live in Pewee Valley. She thinks I live on the other side of the world. She actually says I live "too far" and I always ask too far from what? I can argue with her that I actually have BETTER amenities within 2 miles of her. It is all about comfort. I'm used to driving 30 minutes to get pretty much anywhere... her limit is about 20.

Scott I really miss your restaurant. It was so close to me and the FH there were so friendly. (Heavy sigh)

Okay, I can't explain this, but I can understand it. As a Crescent Hill resident myself, I am perfectly fine with going to Indiana, particularly New Albany. I don't mind going out to Will's place - it's a straight shot out 42 or 71, after all. But something about Crestwood makes it SEEM almost impossible to get to. I think it's because you have to wind through the whole East End to get there, and once you're there, it's got that weird railroad crossing. :D

(And yes, I know you can go out 71 and over to Crestwood, but it doesn't look as close on the map. <whine>)

Might just be that top secret super duper force field we installed at the county line to keep the riff raff out...DOH !!! There I went and did it, it's not top secret anymore. :P

Personally, I prefer long drives to restaurants. There is the anticipation of what I will eat and then once I've stuffed myself silly, the drive home allows me to digest. :D

On a related note, what do you guys do on vacation and the restaurant is 30 minutes away from your hotel? Do you just pick another closer place? I go to Gulf Shores once a year and eat at one of two places in Pensacola, FL (about 30 minutes away) at least once during my week down there.

Back on topic, I'm looking forward to SoS re-opening. I'd only recently heard about the place and was planning a trip with some friends and then heard of the closure.

There's a sign on the door at the former SOS saying "Coming soon... Mom's"
Anybody know anything about it?

Only the old joke ... Never eat at a place called Mom's, never play cards with a guy called Doc, and ... I forgot what the third thing is.

I had hoped that SOS would be back in business somewhere in the Metro but with his sale of all the equipment I don't feel like they will be back. Anyone heard anything at all?
