My two cents: if this is open to the public you need a PR at least 3 weeks in advance to get it into a local pub. Unless, of course Robin can find some space....

FYI - June 6th is last day of the Crusade for Children. that may or may not effect some folks.

i am happy to provide baxter station on any sunday / monday that you choose..i am happy with k.o.d.a being the recipient if it is a fundraiser,,, as a board member of dare to care.... i can't put my efforts into kentucky harvest. i will leave it at that.... and bringing 'canned goods' doesn't do the event justice.. i can tell you right now, that if this event warrants a street closing ( which i hope it will) and a special sunday license, we are already talking about $1000.00. i know how tight money is for almost everyone right now, but, imho, it has to be at least 10 bucks a head!!!

Wow...That's a lotta dough.

Someone...anyone let me know if you/they need any help,,,I'm not much for organizing an event on such a grand scale but I can certainly do a fair amount of legwork. Be glad to help, just let me know.

I think the whole thing is a wonderful idea! I have a thought on the charitible organization...The Kentucky Colonels. One of my all time favorite events of Derby past was the Ky Colonels Barbeque back in the days of Bardstown and Wickland. Giant (and I do mean giant) black cauldrons of burgoo slow cooked and stirred with large wooden "oars", foot after foot of grills with big juicy porkchops grilling, political candidates kissing hands and shaking babies -oops! LOL! Lots and lots and lots of mint juleps and music! Ahhhh, I really miss it. Anyway, to my point - The Kentucky Colonels are one of the most efficient charitible organizations around. Please check out their website http://www.kycolonels.orgto see the massive amount of good things they accomplish! I think it would be not only appropriate, but I bet they might even get involved - PR?? Who knows? At any rate, what great fun! I would love to help in some way, I cannot afford to make burgoo on my own but I can help with set up, ticket selling, preping someone else's burgoo, eating, drinking or any other chore that needs doing! Please let me know!

No license plate here, but let's play another game: How far back does your governor's signature go? Mine's from Wendell Ford, and his signature has faded to pale sepia.

Well....when I first became a colonel it was 1984, so it was Martha Layne Collins. But I got divorced and sent off to get a new one without that name so now it's Brereton Jones, but it has faded to a pale sepia too. Must be the ink they use in Frankfort??? LOL You win Robin!!
