I will admit that I scrolled quickly over quite a bit if this thread because... well frankly I had better ways to spend my time.
Here is the only statement I will make concerning this conversation:

You don't have to agree with me but when you make it clear that you are going to use the money you make when I buy your product to undermine the freedoms of other Americans, and thereby cause great harm to those Americans, their loved ones and their families, I will choose not to give you my money. Every dollar we spend is a political statement. The larger point for me is that I expect not everyone will support marriage equality, but Cathy, who represents Chick-Fil-A, goes further. He condemns, demonizes, and lies about the lives of LGBT people. If you are a friend of LGBT people, remember that your dollar spent at Chick-Fil-A supports donations to organizations that can harm me, my friends, and many people that I love. Spend wisely.

I'm surprised so many would support voluntary segregation.

Now all we need is a political correctness map so we don't buy our Chiclets from the wrong sort of people. Cents add up too people.

What the hell are you on about? Have you suffered a massive brain injury? Surely no one is really this dense. Just stop posting, please.

My Dad used to ask me those same questions.

Might I suggest that, if differing opinions cause you so much pain, you just refrain from reading them? You are actually proving my point.

steve, i don't think you need to quit posting or anything, and i always appreciate a differing opinion, but i didn't see the connection between segregation and Gary's post.

I agree that chick-fil-a has the right to dislike whomever they want, but choosing not to support a business that openly goes against your beliefs is not tantamount to segregation.

In my personal opinion, i would prefer that business owners didn't mix chicken and sexuality at all, but once they do, they should obviously expect others to have their own take on it.

And for what it's worth, my opinion on the matter is evolving somewhat. I used to think that chick-fil-a's stance was silly and slightly off-putting, but that I might still enjoy their product 3 or 4 times a year with a clear conscience, because their opinions didn't really affect me personally.

Now, I kind of feel like that if you're going to act like a dick, maybe i don't want your chicken. but i wouldn't tell anybody else not to eat there.

It's the politicization of everything. And then not really understanding, and even misrepresenting, what the other folks are saying. And then based on that, deliberately choosing to ostracize them and keep them separate. Like I said, we're gonna need a map so we only buy our Chiclets from the right people.

Just in this thread we've learned we're not supposed to patronize White Castle, Waffle House, Papa John's, Carl's Jr (Hardees), and Domino's, all based on political affiliation. At least someone has started a list to keep us from exposure to such hateful places! So, call it the new segregation if you want. Maybe if we get to work, we can have two separate, but equal economies? You gotta have a dream, right?

I've been to Chik-Fil-A a few times. If there was any mixing of sexuality and chicken, I would've noticed.

I must've missed where they where acting like dicks. But if that's your standard for not doing business with someone, when may we expect you to announce the boycott of NABC?

No offense meant to anyone on any side of this, but along with the Python "This is getting silly" clip, I thought this modest little cartoon bears relevance to where this thread has gone:

Like a moth to the flame ...

Read this from the Atlantic. It makes a crucial point:

(The activist-led uprising against Chick-Fil-A is not simply about the CEO’s views... )

"The debate, however, centers around how Chick-Fil-A and its business affiliates spend direct direct corporate cash on supporting anti-gay causes.

"Here’s the real issue. Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy’s family manages a charity called the WinShape Foundation, which dispenses millions of dollars to anti-gay organizations, including Focus on the Family. Where does that money come from? According to tax disclosures, the WinShape Foundation received $8,067,161 from Chick-Fil-A corporation and $11.5 million from CFA Properties, a corporate affiliate of Chick-Fil-A registered in Delaware in 2010."
