By "blanching" are you describing a process that involves frying in hot oil or parboiling in water ?

The blanching is done in oil usually at a lower temperature.

After the potatoes have been rinsed, we fry in peanut oil (blanched) and then hang to rest, till the final finsh fry to order. Cooked twice in peanut oil. BATTER UP

So I finally made in to Home Run Burgers today. I took three friends for a late lunch. They all loved their burgers, but not I. I must admit they ordered doubled patty burgers while I order the single patty. All their patties look thicker and lighter colored in the midde. Unfortunately, mine was totally tasteless and dry.

No, I didn't talk to the management, because I was hosting and my guests were happy. Will I go back? Probably not by myself, but I'm sure I will with the grandchildren someday. And HRB sure beats Mickey D's!

However, IMO, the best hamburgs are still the patties I buy at Fresh Market and cook on my grill in the backyard.

We went for dinner tonight. Great burgers, fantastic fries, friendly staff. Can't wait to go back.

We made it tonight to the one in Middletown. Burger was very good, and I have to say I loved the fries. Ours were crisp, so maybe they have all the kinks are worked out now. There were a decent amount of people in there, considering half of Louisville was out at the Waterfront. Will definitely go back!

I had lunch at the Middletown location today and my expanding waist line caused me to order the single patty (no cheese) variety for the first time.

For those who didn't like the burger, I'm curious how many ordered the single patty. IMO, it's like 2 different experiences. I think the single patty is just overwhelmed by the bun and condiments. Where's the beef if you will.

Their double is one of my favorite burgers of all time (and I like the fries also), but if I had tried the single the first time I went, I don't know that I would be rushing back.

It was just ok.

Of course... most "diet" food is. If you can call any kind of hamburger diet food. Which I just did. Kinda sums up my problem no? :)

I LOVE the fries there! They're perfect. Crispy on the outside, and like mashed potatoes in the middle. Soooo good!

Finally got a chance to try Home Run Burgers this afternoon and it was "Da Bomb"...I had the "lunch special" (small burger and fries) and a Vienna Beef hot dog. Everything was spot on. The burger was just the right size and the fries were excellent. The "dog" was "snappy" just the way it should be. The place is spotless and the counter service was very good. My -only- complaint (and it's a "major league" one) was the life size "fat head" poster of Derek Jeter along with a N.Y. Yankees pennant on the wall. Doesn't mean I won't go back, just means next time I'll sit with my back to Derek Jeter and ANYTHING "Yankees".

Great job Bob.

I also noticed there are no Cincinnati Reds pennants or anything else in any of the stores (at least that I have seen). I wonder if their is maybe some kind of conflict where they can't display them?

It would mean that at least have enough sense to not support that team :P

I promise you that we have all 30 of the MLB teams represented in every Home Run Burger! There were many times I went on a search to find a customers favorite team pennant when I managed the Hurstbourne store. I'm going to find something extra for the Cincinnati Reds to hang just for you, Mark.

Choosing which FatHeads to hang is tricky because I want a "good guy" - a good role model type for kids. And we hope that the player stays with that MLB team for a while. My baseball-loving husband, Gene, gets to make these calls. (At Hurstbourne we have Manny in is Red Sox uniform  - but at $100 each I don't want to throw it in the dumpster!)

Now, I will admit that I married into a Yankees family and years ago decorated my son's room with stuff that is now on display at the stores - so we may be a little bit heavy on the Yankees decor - and Derek is a personal favorite of mine - cute and seems to be a gentleman!

For a role model might I suggest Joe Mauer of the Twins? He who signed under market value to stay with his hometown team they year after winning a MVP.
