Romantic Atmosphere

I like Le Gallo Rosso on Bardstown Road for reasonably priced, one-of-a-kind atmosphere. You could dine inside or outside on a lovely patio.

Or Lentini's is moderately priced, too!

Or what about New Albany bistro (I haven't been, but hear good things.)

Oh-Oh. Another vote for Equus. You'll be pampered. Not inexpensive at all, but completely worth it.

Buck's on Ormsby is probably the most romantic in the city! I'd second LeRelais as an option, but still would put Buck's first.

I love the food and service at Equus, probably best service in town.

Bucks is very romantic with Rick Bartlett playing piano and the decor.

Yes! We went there for our 25th and they went all out. Very good food, unobtrusive service and special music. Not too expensive, either. :D

Don't get mad, because I know this is a chain, but I think that The Melting Pot is a romantic spot. No Italian food in sight, but they do have veggie and fish options. Personally, I have vowed to go there one day and skip the entree in favor of just getting the cheese fondue and the chocolate fondue, but haven't done it yet!

I'm with Robin on Volare: great italian in a classy, romantic environment. You'll have to check on the vegetarian-friendliness, though. I'm guessing they'd have several pastas, definitely salads that would work, just don't know for sure. Melillo's is a good choice, but since it's family friendly I would expect it to be less romantic and louder.

I personally find Porcini's outside patio to be very romantic at night- but I love any outdoor eating...

Artemisia would be good too- although not Italian - on their outside patio when they have jazz on the weekends (very romantic) . They are definitely Vegetarian friendly.

Happy Anniversary!

Sunset. Drinks from the top of the Galt House. Primo. View of the fire in the oven. Find her favorite dessert and go there. At least, this is what I plan to do for my wife's bday in two weeks.

Just as a gentle reminder, though, we want everyone to feel welcome here, and I'd hate for younger folks to think that the geezers on LouisvilleHotBytes disrespect them just because we wish we were still as young as they are. ;)

I'm so happy to see someone below 21 interested in good food! We had a number of teenaged customers who were buying "the good stuff" for themselves and very interested in cooking. Loved to see them wanting to expand their palates/experience. Bravo to Ross for trying to do something different, seek "foodie" advice and not just go to your standard prom venue.

By the way, Robin- I've met a number of your Hotbytes readers lately and quite a few of them were in their early 20's...(not like us "geezers").

I get it.

Good luck Ross, and have fun!

Ross L wrote:Hi everyone,

I am planning to take my girlfriend out to celebrate our anniversary. I'm not too familiar with Louisville's dining but I was hoping for some suggestions for a romantic place to eat. It would be great if it had Italian food, but really anywhere that's vegetarian-friendly would be good. I don't want to say that price is no object, but I'm certainly willing to splurge. Also we can't get wine (not old enough), so that makes the money thing a little easier.

Thanks!

All of the people answering you are very nice and trying to be helpful. They are also very old. Go to Morris deli (Taylorsville Rd close to Bardstown RD) or Stevens and Stevens(Bardstown Rd). Tell them what you want. Can be simple. Then buy some candles.

Get a buddy of yours to take a picnic table at Big Rock (or other similiar place) and cover it and light candles and show up to get things arranged, put up some flowers and go away. Some have covered places in case of rain.

Now you got romantic.

Thanks, Heather. I hope I didn't come across as scolding you, just wanted to make sure that Ross didn't think we were "carding" him or something. ;)
