So I was in Burdorf's today. Headway is being made on the new restaurant which will be of the west end of the first floor (not on the roof, as previously suggested). It does sound like Malone's will be testing the water in Louisville as it is being put together by a group from Lexington.

So help me out here ... in other words, Malone's will basically be right across the street from Molly Malone's? That's going to make it rough on drunks planning rendezvouses.

Well, maybe they will call it something else besides Malones. In Lexington alone, The Blugrass Hospitality Group hosts Malone's, Harry's, Sal's and Drake's, if not more.

Yeah, I heard it was going to be a Drakes.

...be a cool addition to the nightlife in St. Matts, if nothing else.

The signs in the windows say "Drake's."

I'm starting to wonder at what point St. Matthews surpasses the Baxter strip as the metro's most intense club/nightspot zone. It's kind of hard to measure, but I think it's getting close. Comments?

I think the two separate strips are different animals.
Baxter/B-town seem to attract a younger hybrid hipster, frat boy/Buffy kind of crowd. Whereas the St. Matthew's/Lexington Rd. Strip seems to attract them once they get older.

I resemble that remark.

But then again, if the demographic fits, wear it with pride.

Like BHG, my wife and I are Lexington-based. We feel that Drake's maintains all of the BHG hallmarks: nice atmosphere, good service, and loathsome, sometimes foul-smelling, worse-than-Applebee's quality food (sold at Ruth's-Chris prices). The BHG group are experts at providing a nice (and full price!) experience for indiscriminate diners. Louisville, you know good food. Lexington does not! I urge you NOT to support BHG as it extends its pseudopods into your city.

Whoaaaa! Harsh man! But... never fear. If the food is really that mundane the word will travel through Louisville like a flash-fire in a cane-field.

Then how does Cheddar's survive? 8)

I was going to add an addendum to that and say "...then the masses will show up to dine." but I thought it might be a bit too surly. Also I wanted to think of a clever metaphor like "then the patrons will come like vultures to a carcass." or "like sailors to loose woman" but it all seemed too malicious.
But yeah... people will eat at the darndest places. Go figure.

Same group, different restaurant ! Funny, we ate at Malone's in Lexington last night. It was very good....at least my blackened ahi was. The sides were just okay. Place was slammed. I guess they looked at the demographic and figured they were going against Ruth Chris and Del Frisco and that a Drake's might fare better. At least they have good parking!

Cheddar's.... both locations are very popular on Lexington.

And I should say in fairness that drake's prices are indeed in-line with other casual-dining places.
