A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.

I went on the Carnival Destiny out of Miami last May, and thought the food was just fine. Much better than I expected, actually. I had not been on a cruise before, but was pleased with the entire experience. I'm sure you will have more fun than I will - I'm taking my 17 year-old son and his friend to Panama City.

We're on the Imagination out of Miami, just a four night cruise, but fine for us first timers.. I WILL try the Conch. Unlike my two girls that I'm taking, I do like to venture out of my box every now and then.

I don't think you will dislike it. I say that because it has little to no distinct flavor, especially in fritters. I'll compare it to the taste of a clam.

This was one of the things I really liked about my cruise.

My girlfriend has started clamoring to take a cruise but we're both vegetarian and I didnt know how much meat free fare there would be on one.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

I looked at some of the sample menus available on Carnival.com and it seems there was always a vegetarian option. You can also Google "cruise ship menus" and you'll see several examples. I think there are many vegetarian options available.

If you tell the cruise line a month before sailing that you have special diet needs, they will accommodate you. They can even do vegan with enough notice.

I've never sailed aboard Carnival, but did a Celebrity Cruise a few years ago...I had some trepedations about cruise ship food, but overall was pleasantly surprised....we ate in the main dining room most nights, and I'm still impressed with how they can serve so much food to so many people that efficiently....the quality was good, but I didn't think the food temp for the hot dishes was always as warm as it should have been...most ships on Celebrity they usually have a small grille/bistro restaurant where items are cooked to order - the meals we had there were superior, and the food temps were right on target.

You find a large variety of dining experiences on board - from informal snack bars to full-service, formal dining...just pick what you like.

Most cruise lines feature a "midnight buffet" which is worth attending just to see the food stylings - even if you DON'T feel like chowing down in the middle of the night.
