16 steps to the coffee pot...15 steps to the TV...It's a jammy day. I guess being unemployed does have some perks after all.

Time to relax folks. The snow has essentially ended here in NW Harrison County. I'd estimate 5-6" total accumulation, but I'm not going out to measure. The road has been plowed and the neighbor just finished clearing the driveway. Some advantages to living in the wilderness.

Not even going to mess with ours...it ain't worth a heart attack. I DID get out with the broom and dust the snow off the satellite dish though...can't miss my soaps :P BTW, this IS some pretty good "snowman snow"...might have to get out in the front yard later on and get artistic.

OK...So riddle me this...I'm out in the yard this morning/afternoon making a snowman and just generally dicking around in the snow and I notice how quiet the neighborhood is. So I hop in the car and drive around the neighborhood (70 houses) and there is not one-single-kid out playing. No snowmen, no snowball fights, no sledding, no going door to door to earn money by shoveling driveways...No fricking nothing. Don't get me wrong, I KNOW I'm old school and more or less a curmudgeon but even taking that into consideration a large part of me wonders if we have spawned an entire generation of video gaming cheese weenies ?

Rant over...carry on.

Here's my son playing in the snow....

He's NOT a fan. And he won't wear mittens/gloves.

Cheese weenie is pejorative now?

Don't let my son the "cheese weenie" catch you calling him that, he tie you in knot and bounce you like tiny rubber ball.

Ahhhhh there not all cheese weenies but you see my point...right ? Back in "the day" we'd have already built several snow forts (maybe an "igloo" or two), had a couple of snow ball fights (UNsupervised mind you) and the more industrious amongst us would have already topped next weeks allowance by shoveling a few driveways...After a pit stop for some hot chocolate and a pair of dry socks/gloves we'd shag ass over to the sledding hill where we would build some really cool moguls (we called 'em ramps back then) for our steel runner flexible fliers. I dunno, I just can't imagine a kid NOT wanting to get out and play in the snow...especially when they occur so infrequently. I guess it's a generational thing. BTW, when your kid is tying me in a knot, tell him to watch the back...I'm just getting over a herniated disk. :P

Steve,
It may be a neighborhood thing, not generational. There are snowmen being built all over my neighbor hood and my teen plus friend just took my 5 yr old ( unasked) to go sledding down the street.

Deb,
I think you nailed it!! If I lived in Steve's neighborhood, I'd probably not let my children play outside either.

No, I'm saving the pictures of him pulling tampons out of a box to embarass him. This one is just him being stinky!

Several snowpersons are up in our part of Crescent Hill today. One was nicely attired with buttons, a carrot nose, and what appeared to be Mom's good knitted cap and scarf.

OK...I give :P It probably is a neighborhood thing...Then again having an unshaven curmudgeonly looking middle aged man hanging around the neighborhood probably has all the moms on the defense anyway  :P Thanks for letting me rant, no matter how inaccurate my perceptions.
