But the owners knew what the rent was when they signed the lease. That kind of makes it their problem for overextending. Now if the landlord did other things to cause problems it may be a different matter but the cost of the lease is determined before moving in and any smart businessman would ensure that the price and maximum annual increases were included in the contract.

I can't recall all the precise details of the conversation but suffice it to say there were multiple issues with this landlord. I understand some of the same issues with the same outfit (same location) helped bring Mazzoni's down. Just repeating what I was told.

I heard the same thing about Metro Fitness when they were in that center, rumor has it that they were being charged for utilities that actually belonged to other businesses in there and that the landlord would not fix or upkeep anything. Since hearing this from so many people I would guess it has some truth.
