Conch fritters, eating them while while sitting on little pier in the Caribbean. At the other end of the spectrum...one of my favorite snacks as a kid was "ants on a log" celery stick covered with peanut butter and then topped with raisins(the ants).
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

My wife makes a mean tiramisu & tarte tatin. It's probably a bit taboo to say this in this state but I'm rather fond of horse meat as well.

I know one of the best and most memorable snacks I have ever tasted is Banana-que (fried banana on a stick) and ice cold coconut water...Tastes even better on a hot and humid day in the Philippines...

Oaxaca Mexico back in the 80's. There was a little old lady on the sidewalk selling handmade tortillas with onions and some kind of meat for about fifteen cents a go. They were delicious. After eating them for three days a fellow backpacker translated for me. It was pig brains. Dayum.

Otherwise corndogs at a county fair sure are nice. As mentioned above Tapas and Pinxtos... so many tapas, so little time. Chicken livers wrapped in bacon. Boiled peanuts at any baseball park. When you're drunk, King's wings.

If you go to Holland the ultimate beer snacks: Bitterballen. They're like crack cocaine. If you're ever in Frankfurt you have to go to Snack Point "Best Worscht in Town" for the mega hot currrywursts. Spectacular heat.

Three stand out:
1. A "cheese toast" sandwich at a snack bar on the island of Capri. Home made bread, fresh bufalo mozzarella and great summer tomatoes.

2. A Hubig's fried apple pie

3. The onion rings at Mr. Ed's restaurant in Metairie, Louisiana

Hmmmm, nothing very healthy on that list.

Reminds me of the Beer Cheese @ Hall's On The River in Winchester,KY.

Anyone ever had it? I've never had its equal.

Yes. It's really tasty & has little fat. I hear that horse milk is also really good but I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet.

We used to go to Hall's on the River when I was a kid and we'd travel from Ashland to visit family in the Winchester area. I don't recall the beer cheese, however. Is Hall's still around?

When I heard beer cheese I had to look it up.

That was kinda my intention...Why should the Food Network folks have all the fun. Heck, us normal people enjoy a good dish now and then too.

It's a shameless plug (though we're not making any direct money off of it) but when beer cheese came up I had to mention that Rebekah Grace has a new Kentucky Ale Beer Cheese just hitting store shelves. It's only in a few stores around town right now, but should be going into more in the coming days. We had some for a beer tasting down at Louisville Beer Store on Sunday, and it was a big hit, especially the jalapeno version. It's Kentucky Proud, all cheddar, no cream cheese filler. If you own a store and are interested in getting some you can PM me and I can get you in touch with the seller.

BTW, I'd have to say as far as favorite snack foods go, the baked hamburgers from Louie's Coney Island in Kokomo, IN are a favorite for me. I still have nostalgic indigestion from them. Around these parts, we've quite fallen in love with the onion rings and tribal sauce at Zaytun.
