Re: owner of genny's diner faces legal woes

Yeah. The pictures truly tell the story. A friend of mine remembers it and told me it was a beautiful house not all that long ago, and it is confirmed by the pix. If you do nearly zero maintenance on an old house, and leave it vacant for a decade, it will deteriorate.

Sounds like the guy is facing massive fines. I highly doubt he'll get jail time.

More than anything else, it is just a shame.,,,he may get his wish, it may need to be demo'd at this point. Restoration will be extremely expensive. Time will tell......(sorry for the cliche)

Oh, and as for comparing Prague with Louisville, of course we're not as old as some of the buildings there, but we do have some old ones. And if we demo them and build cookie cutters, guess what? We'll never have centuries old buildings. We do have buildings that are over 100 years old here now. I was just on Belgravia Ct. last night and those buildings will last centuries. I guess I'm just philosophically opposed to our disposable mentality in our society. Whether it is cups or houses. Don't use disposable cups (buy a mug). Don't use disposable houses (maintain it). I know people don't like being told what to do, but we live together in a community, and sometimes people kind of need to be told what to do. (just like children) Part of living in a city, a society, a community is listening to the people around you and obeying accepted societal norms. We call them laws. Not everyone likes them. They're not all perfect. But they are important to have.

Peace....

This guy actively trashed the house, broke out the windows, put gravel piles on the porch etc. He deserves whatever the city can do to him

Keep the house. Tear down Ginny's. I don't mind funky places, but that place is just plain disgusting.

level the whole neighborhood, rebuild businesses on one side, parking on the other, done.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

Just a dang minute! I live in this neighborhood! What's the matter with well-off aging hippies and earnest seminary students? Sometimes you even get a twofer. 8)

Adult Entertainment establishments can only be located in an M3 Industrial Zone. There are additional regulations about maintaining 1,000 feet from schools, churches, residential properties.

Not gonna happen in the middle of Frankfort Avenue. It's just a scare tactic by Farris.

Kind of bizarre to stroll past a "house" w the word FREE scrawled all over it. Saw 3 guys peering up at it in what I hope was an inspired kind of way. Somebody would have to have a lot of foresight (read $$$) but we all hope they're out there!

Yes. And given the photo I just saw from 2000, I agree with the jail comments.
