Ditto the Come Back Inn. I tried Amici for the first time about 2 months ago and would recommend it as resonable priced local fare as well. Where is Tuscanny Italian? Across the river?

This is one area I find Louisville really lacking in....... Cheap or inexpensive, good Italian "peasant" food.

Agreed, and it's not expensive. Their pastas range from $11.95 to $17.95, and one order is enough for 2-3 "regular" eaters. My wife and I can make the spaghetti and meatballs go for dinner and then lunch for each of us the next day. The salads are big as well, so 2 people could easily eat very well for under $20, and under $35 with wine.

The post is for affordable? The portion of food you receive versus the price paid is a great value.

Lacking? How many different places would you like listed?

Porcini's is another one. Though far from cheap, is quite good.

I guess that depends on where you compare it to. When I lived in the NJ suburbs, there were 4 places that would have fit this description in a 3 block area. Seriously. So, yes, other than Comeback and Le Gallo, I'd consider Louisville lacking in this area.

Considering NJ has twice the population of Kentucky itself and a fraction of the area to have restaurants; I'd say the comparison is not valid. But, to each their own.

I'm with you. While there are numerous great Italian choices in the city, the inexpensive are few and far between.

I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

Gnocchi?! I love fresh gnocchi! Has anyone tried it there?

The point was that a very high percentage of restaurants in that area were "rustic/homestyle" Italian. I'm talking about an area like Upper Frankfort avenue having 4 Italian places out of about 12 restaurants in the area- and all within walking distance of each other.

Uh let's see....... since there were about 3 that were classified as inexpensive and good, and, this is a Metro area of what, 750,000...... maybe a lot more than 3 or 4 would be nice! Again..... cheap was the key word. It just doesn't exist here and..... Porcini, Volare or not, that would be lacking!

Another vote for missing Melillo's. Is there any way to bring them back?

Anybody know if there's something going on at Adrienne's? We wanted to go there last night ( I wanted to try the gnocchi :D ). We called to see if they had their liquor license yet at 5:30, then again at 5:45 and 5:50. All calls went to voicemail - on a Saturday evening. No one called me back.

Glad we tried ahead of time- I would have been very disappointed ( and the kids hungry) if we'd driven all the way there to find it closed.
