I find this really frustrating myself. Sometimes a poster will say: "at our restaurant..." and I, as a person who doesn't know anyone on the board, has absolutely no idea what they're talking about. It's especially frustrating when they say: "come in and try the great version of X we're cooking here."

I waited tables in college, but my husband and I are in the entertainment industry, so not in the business.

I've never thought of it that way. As a pretty vocal forumite, I have met several active contributors and know most major players in the "Bizz" and have up to this point wrongly assumed that everyone pretty much knew everyone else on here. There must be alot more lurkers out there than I thought.

A little about where I come from. I worked in the very first Papa John's location in Jeffersonville in high school and must have caught the bug then. A few other places I've worked include (I may be dating myself here) Liberty Street in the old Galleria (my first management position at age 20), member of the inaugural crew of BBC in St. Matthews, The Boulders Resort in Carefree, AZ, The Inn at Thorn Hill in Jackson, NH (got a Five Diamond Award from AAA there as Chef de Cuisine), Wolfgang Puck's only failed venture called Obachine in Phoenix and Executive Chef stints locally at Cafe Metro, City Cafe, Equus and Big Spring Country Club.
I've changed my signature to reflect my current status.

I'm trying to be ITB. My wife is currently a waitress in Louisville, but she went to a restaurant school in Paris, was a waitress & manager at several restaurants there as well as one or more in London & we're hoping to eventually open a restaurant together here. My background is in computers.
