The compliment and your patronage is much appriecated James, thank you!
For me, one of my favorites is Third Ave Cafe. When I get the chance to eat out, that is.

To me it's all about atmosphere. I have three favorite places.

North End Cafe on Frankfort. This is a favorite lunch spot for a group of colleague/friends and I. The good and service are always really good and I love watching the 'action' on Frankfort.

Rocky's in Jeffersonville. I'm Italian and I like Italian food and I enjoy Rocky's. Their view of downtown Louisville is amazing.

Bistro in New Albany. Again, very good food and a nice quiet spot. Unlike the first two which are 'action oriented' this is quiet and removed and very pleasant.

All of this depends on weather, however. I fancy myself as a rugged indoorsman and the weather has to be exceptionally pleasant for me to choose to eat outdoors.

Re: Alfresco/Patio dining: Who do/don't you like it?

These comments are great! May I assume that it's all right to quote everyone in an article (a LEO dining supplement about alfresco) as long as I just use first name and last initial?

An unexpected al fresco treat

by Christian Dreisbach » Fri Jun 15, 2007 11:18 am

We unintentionally stumbled onto Ruths Chris patio on July 4 to dine outside and could see fireworks displays for miles...we plan to go back every year!

Louisville is lucky in having so many outside dining options that are not directly on a sidewalk or almost in the traffic pattern.
I find the patio at Azalea very relaxing.
Even though close to the traffic Avalon with it's heaters and misters and flora calls me back time and again.
August Moon should be mentioned too- I watched a family of hummingbirds the last time I was there- much more entertaining than a plasma screen.
