Another reason BoomBozz is not a chain in my book is because each restaurant has its own menu and does its own cooking. Most chains have a standardized menu and a centralized commissary. Something that Tony certainly doesn't have.

I have an unhealthy hatred for Papa Johns, their custom service and pizza are horrible. I think hair is a standard topping at Papa Johns.

I can't blame Tony if he is trying to build another worldwide pizza empire, I'd do the same thing. I just love his pizza and hope it doesn't change.

Boombozz has got it goin on. I've had so many outstanding experiences patronizing their shops, and I support what they're about. Sure, I'd try a Boombozz burger, if I'm out that way, which I'm not usually. I like a good burger every once in awhile. I think that their expansion in this economy is heatening and exciting. Boom-ya.

I love Boombozz, but this news does nothing for me. I guess I just don't feel like burgers are a genre of food that's lacking in Louisville. Nonetheless, I'll certainly try them (who knows, maybe they'll blow my socks off) and I wish him the best in his new endeavor.

Thank you Tony. I was reading this thread while brewing today, stopped reading before you posted. I came here to say something along the lines of what you said so well. Good luck with the new concept.

NOOOOOO! !!!!!!
Tony BoomBozz is our fav pizza for both delivery and dining in, and I also just got my office turned on to ordering Pizza from you. ( Had it today at the office, in fact. ) The Springhurst location is .5 mile from me. And Tony, while I very much understand that the Springhurst location has been slow, unfortunately we rarely eat burgers/chicken out and we won't travel all the way to Westport Village for pizza. We will miss you terribly.

Wishing you the best of luck at both locations; you always do a great job so I'm sure it will be wonderful!

PS could you extend your delivery area for pizza to Springhurst?

I'll continue to support Boombozz until they expand outside of Kentucky. After that, in my book, they're a chain, regardless of where they started & what they have to offer. However, in the end, it comes down to money & you can't blame them for wanting more of it.

Chain itself isnt a dirty word, just because you personally have negative connotations associated witht he word doesnt change it's definition. Yeah BoomBozz has grown to chain status, so what? As long as the product doesnt suffer so be it. And if it means there will finally be one near me in Jeff (Hey there's open development right off 65 near a truly evil chain, Wal-Mart), bring on the growth.

Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns, and Little Caesars are what I consider pizza chains and I have nothing good to say about their pizza. This what I am talking about in terms of negative connotations. I just didn't want Boombozz grouped with those jokers. I might have overreacted on Anne Maries chain comment, but the word chain has negativity associated with it on this forum. I now know Anne Marie loves Boombozz and was not using the term chain in a negative manner. I was supporting Boombozz.

So for the sake of argument, is Toast on Market a chain because they're in New Albany and Louisville?

Edit:

Not to mention that state borders are entirely artificial designations, primarily arbitrarily drawn, and not really useful in my opinion save allowing the Supreme Court to decide presidential elections.

If you want to know what kind of trouble such injudicious use of a pen can get you in, just ask Africa.

Nope, but with one owner, in one city, and 5 independent locations I don't consider it a chain. It doesn't matter what you, I, or Anne Marie call it, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't being put in the same category as the big guys with crappy pizza. I don't consider Bristol or Wicks a chain either and I don't like Wicks pizza. Me liking Boombozz has nothing to do with labeling it. In fact there are some chain pizzas I enjoy, Snappy Tomato is the first that comes to mind.

Personally, I have absolutely no issue with the concept of a "chain." (denotatively, not connotatively that is)

Call me a capitalist pig, but I'm of the belief that a person with a sufficiently excellent product and a sound business plan should be able to expand as much as he or she desires without being maligned with derisive monikers like "Chain" (connotatively this time) and epithets like "Papa John's."

The point at which such curses become warranted isn't when they grow to a certain size, but (and this may come as a shock to some people  ) when they start to behave like a Chain. (caps for connotation)

As soon as a business seeks to drive out local businesses instead of encouraging diversity, supports homogeneity above creativity, and stops caring about the community in which it is located, then I'll have a couple of spiteful soubriquets to throw about. Before that? Viva success and delicious pizza!

Excellent!

Now all we need is a picture of Admiral Ackbar exclaiming "It's a Chain!"
